  • Comments: What an incredibly fun adventure! So glad to check this off the bucket list. And to finish second overall is incredible, especially when first place was Tim O'Donnell!!! What an experience to share the podium with a legend.

  • Comments: Waited for Annie to finish about :30 after me, and then trudged our way back down Skytop to the buffet. Best race ever, gotta have the best post race buffet ever, with open bar (beer). Did my best to replenish the calories I had lost, and did a damn fine job of it. We had to return the bikes by 5 so we stayed at the buffet for a bit then left. That night had local pizza and beer around the firepit at the farm, and enjoyed the evening weather. This is by far the best race i've ever done in 10+ years of racing. Look forward to going back

  • Comments: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/898683964/1 HIGHLY recommended to do once. Just indescribable and should be on every triathlete's bucket list. Unique challenges that you will not find anywhere else. Post race food was the best I've ever had. Signup is at midnight on Halloween and sells out in about 15 minutes. This was the 30th year anniversary of the race. Photos:1-Race Start (I'm not shy about lining up front now);2-during last Bike climb ~mile 25-26?; 3-Last swim exit-Lake Mohonk; 4-me on the last run to Sky Top the day before (still smiling); 5-My finish (minus 4 minutes for wave start)

  • Comments: Another incredible day at an incredible race. If you tried to recreate something like this today, it would never happen. Can't wait to do it again (better trained).

  • Comments: Weather=perfect starting low 60s, ending mid 70s. Course was fantastic. Volunteers, post race banquet. I cant say enough about this race. The post race bbq with cold beer was the best. IM can keep their cold pizza and pretzels. But I understand this only works because SOS limits the field size. I can't wait to come back.

  • Comments: One of the crown jewels of triathlon. I would recommend no one else goes there to race though so I can continue to race there. :-)

  • Comments: I have never done a race where I am happy 100% of the time - even while walking up super steep hills. This is an amazing race/course and is put on flawlessly - especially with how many logistical components there are. Having done countless races, this one is just different...in a really good way. It's laid back and low key. The race staff and racers are friendly and it's not a dick measuring contest. I can see why people go back year after year. I know I'll be back.

  • Comments: This is the best and coolest race I have ever done. From the variation of events, to the views, to the perfect water temps, the shaded crushed stone trails, et al. Running 18 miles is so much easier and enjoyable when you get some cool refreshing swims in between. I was planning on it being a training day and that's how it went, just up to plan. The temp was great, the support was wonderful, and just a real cool idea for a triathlon. The meal afterwards is bountiful and excellent, to say the least. The two comments I heard before we started that really rang true were that the race is the antithesis of an ironman and that the prior partcipants didn't want to brag about how great this race is given that other people would all want to come do it. Well both are very true. It is a homegrown grassrotes race (although extremely well run) and doesn't have the big bells and whistles of an IM, not like those are needed. Also, I am now wary to give such rave reviews given that it may make
