Member Question: Using a Snorkel for Swim Training
Until I feel comfortable in the pool, would it be silly to put in my pool time while wearing a snorkel? I really want to swim until I'm tired and force myself to go further each time.

"I'm brand new to triathlons and I'm really struggling with my swimming! I can't breathe right and I'm terrified that I'm going to suck in a lungful of water and drown myself. Because of this I'm not making any gains in endurance in the pool. I'm starting swim lessons and will do some of the drills on this website so that will help a bit. Great question, and I think a lot of people can relate to what you are going through getting started in swimming!
Just putting in pool time and doing what you can with where you are in your swimming is going to be helpful in many ways, particularly if you are using a snorkel:
