  • Comments: Well if you can't tell from this report, I owe a lot of my success in this race and coming back from a bum year last year to Dave. I know, I know your thinking, geez Jim easy on the compliments or it will all go to his head. Yes, I see your point, and while I'm pretty proud of the effort I put forth, I couldn't have got to this point in my journey without the guy. So for today, somebody else will have to make the short joke, because all I can say is thank you.

  • Comments: Logistically I don't know if I've experienced a better race environment. The volunteers and spectators are unbelievable. And having raced in a couple of other states, Wisconsin has the BEST volunteers and spectators. We can't do what we do without them. Plain and simple. the finish line layout was just about perfect. The finish line had medics making sure each and every one of us was OK. The gear pick-up was right next to the finish line and the changing tents weren't far away. Perfectly run race!!! I'll do it again!

  • Comments: In stark contrast to the Summerfest Half-Mary, this was an extremely well-organized and well-run event. I'm sure it helped that we had perfect conditions on race day. My only knocks on this event were the lackluster post-race activities (no band or decent music) and crappy post-race food (you'd think they could throw in a legitimate picnic lunch.) Other than that, this is a great course and great event.

  • Comments: For my first marathon I was really happy. I was right in the middle of my goal time and the 2nd half of my race was just 4 minutes slower than the first half. So maybe dehydration wasn't an issue and my time was right on. As a first time marathoner I really don't know. A day after the race I am very very sore. More sore than I have ever been after 1/2 marathons or tri's. In face, I never get sore after races. I don't know if this soreness is normal or not. I can't understate how sore I am. A very special thanks to my supportive family for making this a really great experience all around.

  • Comments: The volunteers were amazing. They helped encourage and push on the racers. The event was on time and it was awesome being able to go into Grafton High School that morning before the race. I was a little upset about there only being water and Gatorade on the course because by the half way point I could have really used a cookie or banana or something. The food post race was rather horrible considering the fact that we ran a marathon and there was no activities going on accept for the music at the finish. It was nice having a change tent there to get out of the wet clothing. It was the spectators and volunteers that made this race special!

  • Comments: This race is top notch. Post race food a bit of a disappointment though. This race was more than just a race to me. It was a milestone and allowed me to prove something to myself that needed to proved. This may seem corny but need to give some big thank yous! My family for their support Djdavey for being an awesome coach who believed even when I didn't Kyle Roberts from Footworks Orthotics for crushing my IT band problems Nicole for being a great pacer Morey1 and lrunfit for their pearls of wisdom and support All my Donkey friends for all of your support and friendship!

  • Comments: Did this with one of three "Team VA" relay teams. Not sure of my pace, somewhere around a 9:10 or 9:15 I think. Did the second leg, a little over 11 miles, for the team then slowed it down to a REALLY SLOW pace and ran to the 26 mile mark. Saw DJDavey, who ran a mile or so with me...totally cool! then bumped into Scmize after the race. Our team was 13/31 in our division. Good times :)
