  • Comments: You can't find a better race in Virginia. This is a big big time race with more support and better organization than every other half marathon in the SE that I've run. I've PR'd here twice. The weather is traditionally much cooler than labor day. But the kicker that really puts this race over the top is the cost is about 50% less than a standard 1/2 mary with less support and less organization.

  • Comments: Great race - Although there wasn't a whole lot of crowd support (due to the location on the naval base), the volunteers were AWESOME! Nutrition stops were well dispersed and they even had extra people in golf-type cars riding up and down the course giving out extra gu and bananas and water. The enthusiam of the volunteers made it so much more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this race!

  • Comments: A great event. Well run, plenty of water stops and 2 gels stops along the course. This was a flat course that would be great for a shot a PR. Great post race activites, plenty of food and hey any race with Krispy Kreme doughnuts is OK in my book. They had doughnuts, cottton candy popcorn, fruit, Subway, bagels, and plenty to drink to include water, Powerade, beer and I am sure several other things I missed. We stayed for the awards after which they gave away 2 life cycles, which we did not win, but had a GREAT day. We will do this race next year.

  • Comments: Fun environment. DJ's on course were fun. Bands at finish weren't. Good stocked water and nutrition stations. Great time of year for this race. Somewhat boring scenery. Subway subs, fruit, cookies, good recovery bag, free beer and tons of water/powerade at finish.

  • Comments: For the first year of this race I was impressed with the organization and all of the planning. There were only ~550 runners but they did it right and I'm sure this race will build into a great event once word gets out.
