  • Organised?
  • Events on time?

  • Lots of volunteers to help?
  • Plenty of drink stations?

  • Post race activities?
  • Overall course based on my ability:

  • Comments: Lots of friendly enthusiastic volunteers! 2,000 for full so a nice mid size event with the half marathoners at the start but much smaller crowd by the end. The expo was really nice, bought stuff I wasn't planning to buy but you only do your first once. I am happy with this as my choice for my first!

  • Comments: Only complaint was post race. Already tearing down the advertised Michalob Ultra party zone? Really...........so the half marathons had all the fun, and those that just slugged this mother out all day in the heat get SHIZ? Really St. Lou?

  • Comments: Left knee pain about mile 6, persisted but did not get worse. I ran each mile as a unit. Walk for first 0.2 then run to 0.5-0.6 then walked until my average was 12:30 or 13:30 then walked until 0.2 again. Repeat 26 times. I took 3 weeks off about 5 weeks before race so I was not trained-up. Had some expected stiffness in legs and left knee for 1 day after. Day two left foot (5th met) was painful. Not bad though. My goal was to run about 5:30 without injury and I did that.

  • Comments: I chose the right venue for my 1st marathon. The volunteers were incredibly nice and there were a lot of them. The course was well marked, everything was on time, everything was no hassle - from picking up the race packet to getting your medal, food, beer, massage, meeting your family afterward. They provided a spectator guide to help family find you on the course, and the participant guide was very informative. The course was challenging, but not crazy hard. I love hills, so I was in my element. And the course takes you by and through lots of great historical and beautiful places in St. Louis.

  • Comments: This was a really good race, very well organized, and the city of St. Louis was great. Everything was very smooth, the expo location was good with plenty of vendors, everything was well laid out. The race site and course were great, saw lots of very nice parts of town along with some of the tourist sites of St. Louis. There are a lot of great restaurants, and the city is very child-friendly with a couple of zoos and nice kids museum - the City Museum is a must. I would highly recommend this race. The only downside was the post race spread was a little lacking, but I think that there was more planned that was cancelled due to the weather. I would give this a 4.5/5 stars.

  • Comments: Since this was my first race I don't know what to compare this race too. I was impressed how well things went before the race. The weather was really crappy so I could blame the post race activities on that. Everyone just wanted to go inside and dry off. I will never forget this race since it was my first road race ever and I had never pushed my body to limits like that before. Can't wait until the next one.

  • Comments: Great race, 15,000 runners are hard to accommodate, but they did great.

  • Comments: First race. Loved it even though it rained. Finished in under 3:00:00. Miscalculated bathroom stop but proud of accomplishment.
