  • Comments: This race was mentally tough. With a terrible start to the swim, it was hard getting back in the groove during the bike. With that, I was happy that I placed 3rd in my age group. I also didn't feel thrashed after the race which is a huge bonus.

  • Comments: Pro- within a 2 hour drive (no overnight needed), flat course for the most part. Once the race got rolling thought it flowed smoothly.First Oly so of course i set a PR. My time was in my predicted range I set for myself. Con- people who think they can roll up 25 min before a start and get their packet and timing chips. I was told to be there no later than 7A to register. cars were still pulling in at 7:40. Might have helped to have more registration folks. Delay pushed us further into satans kitchen on the run.

  • Comments: I have to thank my jock straps; my wife, kids and friend Jeremy. Jeremy was supposed to race with me but injured himself the day before laying shingles on his buddy's roof. But he still made the trip from Columbus race morning to support me. He took a bunch of great pictures. Thanks guys!

  • Comments: HFP runs a good race. I just wish they'd wait till everyone was done to start packing up. It's a big blow to the ego at the finish to see people waiting to take down the tent and stuff.

  • Comments: As usual, HFP does a great job coordinating these races. The race ran smoothly and was a lot of fun. My only suggestion would be to put some port-o-johns out on the run course. I may have been able to solve all my problems with a john.

  • Comments: I rated this the worst race I have done. I was disappointed with HFP from the moment I arrived on Saturday. There were no signs to the event...and I thought they were needed. They were not ready for packet-pickup when we came on Saturday, plus the chips and caps were not even there. Then we got there on Sunday they were not ready. Between uninformed volunteers (blame on HFP), running through ditches, a lack of first class organization, and the International Triathlon results not being posted until Tuesday, I did not enjoy the race. HFP has done plenty of good races, I am not sure what happened.

  • Comments: I *still* like HFP. Reliable, experienced. They're the Toyota Corolla's of racing.

  • Comments: HFP puts on great races, and I would encourage anyone who is looking to do their first triathlon or duathlon to do it with this organization!

  • Comments: The course was not marked well -- the first exit out of the transition area was not marked sprint vs international (true throughout the race). Volunteers not well coordinated. Little or no music played before the race started -- names not called out as finishers completed. Clock was down at the finish. I've only run 2 triathlons: 2005 Caesar Creek and Buck Creek. Both were high energy and had a lot of support. This race didn't have the same energy -- I was surprised the difference that made. I'm looking forward to Maumee Bay next week.

  • Comments: HFP is pretty cool; I like them. The only thing that would have made this race better was getting it off on time; I still don't know what was going wrong.

  • Comments: This is an excellant beginners race with a calm lake, only a few hills for the bike AND little traffic. Lots of volunteers...I never made a wrong turn. Plenty of drink stations for the run. There were about 6 different waves going out at different times due to at least 4 different races (sprint/oly/male/female/du). They all went off on time. Kudos to HFP.
