  • Comments: Team-Magic always puts on a good race. This is one that I would do next year. The ocean water temperature was perfect. I am really pleased that I crushed my goal of breaking 3 hours. Following the training plan I downloaded made all the difference in the world. This and the encouragement I got from my blog mates really helped.

  • Comments: After the race I spent some time with Ken and Frank. Two genuinely good peeps that represent the sport well. I saw Marcy (Ken's wife) on the run course but officially meet her. Ken probably know more about my training that anyone else due to the BT boards/logs here. Good to finally meet him. This was a short Olympic distance which was *just* right for my fitness level (and non-existent swim training). The race was well run and I think there was more support/volunteers per racer than at any race I have ever been too which includes Memphis in May and Rivercites. Although I came in 10 out of 11 it was really a good race for me. The standing took the beginners out of the AG'ers and couple that with the level of athlete that attempt the Olympic distance and I finished about where I should have. If you look at the overall standings I'm 104 out of 186 (but I counted by hand and am not doing it again :) ). My transitions were clean and fast. I *maybe* could have shaved 60 seconds

  • Comments: This is a very well put together race. Team Magic did a great job. The course was on the easy side today, but it could be alot harder depending on waves/wind. GREAT RACE

  • Comments: Best first time event I have ever done and maybe the most organized event I have ever done. They did alot of things right. The course, the race officials, draft marshalls, volunteers, awards, et al. Only complaints, no beer - state park doesn't allow it. I think the swim time may have been off by 1 minute, but maybe i screwed up. Probably should have had one more water station on the run. It was probably the hottest day of the year here. I also finally met one of my longtime bt buddies, biseman. Enjoyed a few beers in the parking lot with him. One of our house guest, Sheri won her age group but no other awards in the group. I think this race is destined to grow.
