  • Comments: IM USA is awesome. course is tough at parts, but i love the bike loop and the swim is great. spectators and volounteers are amazing. without them none of this would be possible. the town of placid is great as well. i would move there in a second.

  • Comments: This was my first Ironman and was absolutely amazing! I started this adventure many months ago with my husband and four close friends. I look back a few years and cannot believe I finished an Ironman! I wouldn't have ever guessed this! It made it even sweeter that I 1) finished before midnight and 2) finished with five of the most amazing people I know. I wouldn't have traded this experience for anything in the world! I just need to decide what to do about CdA '07!

  • Comments: I can't compare to any other Ironmans, but an IM race blows the crap out of all others with regards to organization, volunteers, and fan support. Truly a wonderful experience.

  • Comments: I've already made a long post in the Iron Distance thread about this race as a venue, so go there and read it. The bottom line is this: if you're going to do an IM event, do this one. The travel is a bit of a pain, the lodging can be expensive, and the weather is unpredictable. But it is simply an incomparable experience. My only gripe: He didn't tell me I was an Ironman when I crossed the line. I want a refund. As for my performance, how upset can I really be? I wanted to go sub-12 and missed it by a good margin. On the other hand, this is my first IM, I beat more than half the people in my AG, and I beat well more than half the people in the race. Now it's time to convince the boss to let me do IMAZ. If I get the green light, I'm going sub-11: 1:10 swim, 5:25 bike, 4:10 run.

  • Comments: The volunteers and organizers were amazing. They catered to every need we could have, and did it with a smile. So many awesome people carried us through this day. So many awesome people carried me to this day as well. My wife Jen sacrificed a lot of time and energy to watch our daughters while I trained. She also listened to me babble on about ironman for the last 12 months. She was there for me all day, and it felt so good to hear her tell me how proud she was of me (both before and after I finished). My girls (ages 3 and 5)were awesome - they had been running around all week saying "you're going to be an ironman." My in-laws had t-shirts made for the girls that said "my daddy is an ironman." I about lost it when I saw them wearing those after I finished. Thanks also to all the BTers who supported and inspired me as I prepared for ironman. All in all, one of the best days of my life. I met every ideal goal I had in mind: sub 1:20 swim, sub 8:00 swim/bike/transitions, sub-4 marathon,

Tough course for my first ironman but i don't regret it one bit! i also have to give props to the training plan I used here on beginner triathlete. the program worked out great! I finished feeling like I had come prepared for an Ironamn

  • Comments: This is such a hard event. There are many areas that I can improve in with my prep for 2007. Looks like Kona in 2008 or in 2009 when I make the leap to 40 AG. Oh and by the way - Matthew Hanshaw, You Are an Ironman.
