  • Comments: Super race. Nice location. Lake is crystal clear, bike ride is on rural roads in great condition with a shoulder. Definitely not flat...rolling. Run is a rolling course with nice shade. DRC is extremely well organized and race staff is knowldedgeable and helpful. They had the awards ready less than 20 minutes after the last finisher crossed the line and had results online within 2 hours. Just a lot of fun too. Highly recommend this race.

  • Comments: Did this one for the first time this year. It is a really nice venue. Big crystal clear lake, rolling hills for the bike with a fair amount of shade from a canopy of oaks, rolling out and back run. There were about 120 participants, but they had some good quality competition.

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: Despite my poor time, particularly in the run, I was happy with the race and feel that I am making good progress. This race, which only had a 100 or so racers, was full of a lot of very experienced and strong triathletes. There were not as many relative newbies (like myself) as compared to the other races (3), all sprints, that I have done. You certainly cannot "fake" it at this distance. Still I learned alot. As far as the race organization it was pretty good although the post race activities were minimal. I guess I've been spoiled by the awesome post race activities from the Red Hills Tri....pretty hard standard to meet.

  • Comments: I would give it a five but there was no beer at the end. I don't fully support triathlons that don't have beer at the end and I don't care if you are done at ten o'clock in the morning.

  • Comments: Overall, I was happy with the my performance since this was the first true Olympic distance race I have done. Got the roll down third place since first in my ag was second overall, second was 7th overall. Challenging course. Wish there was more water on run. I was pretty amazed that a drafting penalty got handed out since the only people on the bike course were police. Someone must have blown the whistle. Actually cost her the overall female 3rd place podium spot. Roadkill on course: 2 dillars 1 water turtle(unknown species), did see one tiny tiny turtle, wanted to stop to check it out, may have been a snapper 1 scarlet king snake (saw this on the run)

  • Comments: This was a very small race, competitor wise, but the athletes were pretty high caliber and I've never seen so many Zipps in transition percentage wise. I think about half of the competitors had Zipp or some other race wheels on their bike. I think there were only a few road bikes and one hybrid, but everyone else had a high end tri bike. The race director and his crew were awesome. I really hope this race catches on and the race director continues with it. The race venue is beautiful. The bike course is open to traffic but there was such little traffic on the roads that I felt like it was a closed course. Madison is a rural Florida town, but its the perfect place for this race. The race is an awesome early season race and if the race continues next year I will be there without hesitation. And hopefully I'll be ready to race that bike course.
