  • Comments: This was the biggest race that I have ever done and I have to believe the logistics are a nightmare. That said they did a great job. Even the lines for check in the day before, while long, moved pretty quickly. The event volunteers were great and I am not aware of them running out of anything other than medals....that was the only negative. Some of the athletes that finished after me did not receive medals as they ran out. I am not really sure how that happens. Registration is cut off about 3 weeks out and there are always no shows so I can't think of an excuse for not having enough finsher medals. Regardless, the medal issue aside, the event was very well done.

  • Comments: Eah, this event needs to work on organization a bit more. But I cant complain, they worked with what they had. I hear a lot of people complaining that Augusta is a horrible host city, which I disagree. It is a good snapshot of Georgia. Historic houses, nice downtown. Yes there were impoverished areas that we went through, but you're in the south, what else would you expect?

  • Comments: Very well organized. Best spectator friendly course I've ever been on. They need to improve the run aide stations spacing and add electrolytes, or at least pretzels, to the line up.

  • Comments: Drill instructor cop was awesome. Clemson flag holding guy was cool but he would just pop up in the weirdest places. I loved the course. All the volunteers and law enforcement were great, especially considering the weather. I was concerned about the number of people racing, over 3000, but it seemed to be ok. The couple of pace line's I did see were all women on high end bikes. Pretty lame but they have to look in the mirror, and I got to look at their butts. Did not like having to walk back to the hotel to catch a shuttle to go back to transition to get my bike then the mile and a half back to the hotel. Same with dropping it off on Saturday but after a race, this sucked. Just not sure how this can be fixed with a river swim. I heard they ran out of medals....lame. I'd go back and race here again. But it looks like Rev3 might have a race here in the Atlanta area around the same time next year. We'll see.

  • Comments: Support was awesome. My husband, kids, and lots of friends were on the course cheering, ringing cowbells, and strangers would even shout out your name (printed on bib) and encourage you. It was great to be a hometown girl! To have my fam in 3 places on the bike course was AMAZING. Their encouragement got me through the run so much easier!!! I can't criticize anything Ironman did; the race was 100% perfect despite rain.

  • Comments: I'm rating this race worst because its a 70.3 IRONMAN by ESI and soooo many other sponsors, yet garbage for alot of reasons. Ive seen local sprint tris put on a better race (local 5K's for that matter as well). The local town of AUGUSTA is "SHADY", dirty, and not appealing. The registration process was 2 people @ a relay table and 2 people at athlete table. Loooong line the whole day-over an hour standing in line. Once in you got a waiver and medical card to fill out on buffet tables with 3 pens, then funneled to packet pickup where you got your packet. Then for the next hour+ you got to explore the (crowd FILLED) expo, where due to the long line were maybe able to find something to commemorate the next days achievement.(since they ran out of medals this year!) Many things were already sold out by the time I got in @ 2-it opened at 11!!, and went until 8. Swag was a gatorade bottle, ironman sling bag, and local fliers and coupons-weak. IF inside the "expo"you found something you then stood

  • Comments: Transition area for this race just sucks. There is limited parking. Post race bike pickup was the worst. After racing they made you walk ~1 - 1.5 miles to get your bike! They changed the swim start times to make them closer together and that really bunched up the course. I guess this is no different than mass starts though. If they could get the transition area more organized it would help.

  • Comments: The volunteers were fantastic especially in the rain. I was disappointed at the quality of the race planning and administration for an Ironman 70.3 event!!! For example; poor check in registration process (1 hour in line before USAT verification), poor day bag retrieval, parking and traffic was uncoordinated. I will do this event again if they get their act together

  • Comments: Good race and beer was easy to get afterwars. Count me satisfied. I did feel I spent more time than necessary getting to and from transition before/after the race. Don't mind the swim start but it would have been nice to have ended the run closer to transition so I didn't have to get a bus back.

  • Comments: I had a blast. The race was well supported. I wish they had been more forthcoming about the parking situation and alternate options. Bike pick-up was hampered by closed streets and that could have been better planned. I heard later that some people finished and the medals had run out. That's not good. I'd recommend this race for any first time HIMer like me!

  • Comments: This is a good race. The swim was fun and I felt like I could relax better during the swim. Make Marriott reservation earlier next year and consider staying at the Marriott Suites b/c it is a more central location.
