  • Comments: outside of the swim a good race for me. this was my best bike to date. I averaged over 20 mph and then ran 7:32's for the 10k portion, so training paid off for sure. I HAVE to concentrate more on the swim from now on. That is for sure going to hold me back from placing higher in these events.

  • Comments: I love this race. This is my first Oly distance and I am hooked. The event for nearly 7000 athletes was well organized and had a festival feel to it. The pre-race expo is a great event to see new equipment. I recommend the pre-race talks at the expo for newbies like me. The post race party looked like fun but I had to go.

  • Comments: What an end to my first triathlon season! The changes in me have been immense. Being a triathlete has been a life-changing event. I don't intend of stopping, but with a baby on the way, my options are in the air. My wife has talked of me doing some next summer, but we'll see. This was the best summer of my life...I will never forget how much fun I had participating in these triathlons. It made me a better person. I cannot wait to start sharing this experience with my kid(s) soon!!! My wife couldn't have been more supportive and encouraging. I found a note in my lunchbag today at work, congratulating me on my achievment...I almost got a little teary-eyed in front of my students!! ha! What an experience! I love triathlons!!!!!!!!!

  • Comments: They did an absolutely unbelievable job organizing this event. Biggest triathlon in the world with over 8,000 athletes and my swim wave went off right on time to the minute. Amazing. The surface of Lake Shore Drive is problem, but it is still worth it to get a chance to ride the Drive.

  • Comments: I think the Chicago Tri is set up really well and for the amount of people they have I think it's a great event.

  • Comments: As always, an EXCELLENTLY RUN RACE! Directing a race like this with 8000 athletes (including the sprint and supersprint) must be like herding cats, and the RD and his staff were outstanding as always. The officials were present on the course and visible, I can only assume they were doing their jobs well. I honestly did't see much drafting or cheating on the bike course though). Lastly, MAD PROPS to the volunteers, they were all amazing.

  • Comments: Wow! What an organized event! Chicago did this right. Very nice race. In fact, perfect. 8000 participants and it was better run and more organized than any of the downstate events.

  • Comments: By far the biggest race I've ever raced -- I think this set a record for participants at 8,000-plus overall including the sprint and pros. Despite the size it was very well organized and amazingly everything was on time.

  • Comments: A ton of participants - 8,000 overall for the spring and olymic tri's. The swim is narrow and crowded.

  • Comments: Very enjoyable experience, even though I didn't love the crowded swim portion (maybe if I were more comfortable with my ability there). Was happy with my effort and performance.

  • Comments: Far to many people to make this course a fast one. I was lucky enough to be in the 2nd wave of Oly distance so that helped me out a great deal as i didnt have to worry about passing or being passed by to many people.

  • Comments: This is an event you have to see to believe: 7000 bicycles in the transition area, 50 swim waves, a swim you can follow every stroke from just a few feet away, and bike and run courses right in town. Extremely well organized for such a massive event. The large turnout of once-a-year racers and first-timers means that experienced triathletes, even the slow ones, look better in the results. My time goal was to get under 3 hours and be at least MOP. Made both; a good end to the season.

  • Comments: This was my "A" race for this year, which is my first year racing (or, for that matter, running) ever. I was hoping to finish above the 50th percentile for my age group and I ended up in the 67th. I loved this race and will return next year.

  • Comments: My only complaint is the condition of LSD. It was bad last year and it's getting WORSE! Also, the water stations had warm water. But it was awfully hot outside, so I can't imagine how they could have kept that water cool.

  • Comments: Wow! What a job the Accenture people did putting on a race of this size. The amount of organization was outstanding, it's no simple task to direct 7800 people and they did a fantastic job. The volunteers were excellent, much thanks to them!

  • Comments: I think this is the best race I have been to. I would definetly do it again. I loved St. Anthony's but I have to say I think I like this race more, even with the crazy long run to transition. The course is so great, the weather was good, I met so many interesting people. I even had a grin on my face during the run because I was just so happy to be here in Chicago having a great race and loving every minute of it!!The pictures are of me and Laura (Whizzer) before the race and after.
