  • Comments: Great race, bummer about the tire but that was my first flat in a triathlon in 4 years. Happy with my performance after the flat.

  • Comments: Overall good. The race organization was "casual" -- had a local community feel, which was good. Only suggestion would be more / better aid stations... particularly on the run. Maybe the provincial park didn't allow more, but it felt like a long way between aid stations.

  • Comments: There were more Olympic participants in the race this year and the organizers did a great job of managing them and making necessary changes to some small logistical issues from last year. The organizers were especially helpful to me in getting my into one of the unused "team" spots when the individual spots sold out. Kudos to them!!

  • Comments: Definitely wondering if my week before the race played a role in my performance. Two night shifts two days before the race. Up for 40hrs straight before the race and then only slept for 3-4hrs on the night before the race. My nutrition wasn't great throughout the week, too much sugar and peanut butter, not enough veggies, meat, and whole grains. I think I was fairly hydrated for most of the week though...

  • Comments: This has typically been a Half-Iron race. This was the first year they've had an Oly with it. One thing that would have been nice, was having the transition set up with Oly on one side, and Half on the other. As we were all finished and not able to get in to transition for about an hour or so after we finished. They did not want us in there, when some of the Half's were coming in off the bike. Other than that, was a well organized race! 192 finishers and 51 were in my age group! WOW! Welcome to the Olympic 30-39 Male age group. Being a competitive person, 40/51 sucks knowing how well I performed for myself. I know that is why we do this is for ourselves though. I look at where I was 1 1/2 years ago, and if you told me I would be finishing an Oly in under 3hrs I would have thought that it was impossible!! Met another BT'er had a nice morning out there. Ended up going home, and going for a small hike with the girls!!

  • Comments: There were a few logistical issues with the addition of the Olympic. The website wasn't updated at all; not even with a note to indicate it wasn't being updated and that email was the main way information was being sent out. The lake was open to participants several days in advance. That was nice. I got my first OWS in before the race. The bike course was well volunteered for merge lane crossings and the turn around. Intersections with lights had police controlling traffic. The run was well marked and volunteered. It is so well marked, that in the one long, continuous path through the trees that didn't have any markings, I was wondering if I was off the course because I didn't see any markings. :-)

  • Comments: First year running the Oly along with the Long Course. A few logistical issues but nothing major.
