  • Comments: Finished, had my worst ever race but learned a lot. In the end I did have a good time, I always do because there is always something to learn and who could NOT like an Ironman. Just trying to get rid of my draft entries.

  • Comments: Any official IM race is going to be an event and typically well-run. My biggest gripe is the post-race area. Once through the finish chute, they direct you back into the Ironman village. They send you through a small gap in a chain link fence. The massage table is right in that narrow crowded area. That's great because you don't have to go far, it sucks because it become a huge bottleneck. They need to reorganize that area so it's not so narrow and crowded. It was nuts in there.

  • Comments: As always the race was extremely well organized and stocked. They had more volunteers than racers and all of the volunteers were extraordinarily nice, supportive, and helpful. The race is expensive but it is worth it. My only negative would be they need more toilets on the bike. If we can't pull over and pee in the desert then more toilets are needed some of the lines were crazy. However, they did add bike racks next to the toilets which was a huge improvement. A great race that is still looking for ways to improve.

  • Comments: This race is so well put on. The cost of the race is high at $500, but I think you easily get your money's worth. Volunteers were simply amazing...Thank You! I didn't like the 3 loop idea before the race, but it was really nice to see your friends and family several times out there. I highly recommend this race to anyone.

  • Comments: We enjoyed Phoenix, saw the Bodyworlds exhibit and since my wife is an architect we also took a tour of Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin West studios. What a great experience the Ironman is and I think I learned a few things: 1. Follow the advice you give others, advice like "make a plan and stick with it" 2. If your'e going to start with the big dogs, you had better act like one. 3. IM is quite a logistical challenge especially flying across country so make lots of to do lists. 4. I enjoyed the experience and can't wait to do the next one

  • Comments: I can't wait to do another one! Thanks to ALL the volunteers, they were amazing. I learned a lot about myself over this past year and most of it was positive. BT was great with support and encouragement! I had a blast doing this race and I hope to spend more time with all of the BTer's next time! Good Job everyone!

  • Comments: This was an amazing experience. This site has been such an enourmous help with the articles, plans, and forums. I definitely couldn't have done this without my wonderful husband. He did everything (cooking, cleaning, watching our daughter) so I could train after work. He also went out and did all the long rides with me. He wants to do an Ironman, too, but it was just too hard for us to both train for it. Since I was the one that got us hooked on triathlon, I got to do an Ironman first! I remember my first tri in August of '05. It was a sprint and I was way undertrained. I knew that going in, but didn't think it would be too hard. I ended up averaging 17 mph on the bike and it took me 35 minutes to run the 5k! Even though it was rough I knew the second I finished I would do an Ironman. The last 6 months have been an emotional roller coaster. There were times I would come home and cry my eyes out because i didn't think my knee would hold up thorough all the training and

  • Comments: This was a great race for a first timer. I would highly recommend it. Don't know if I would do it again. The run course and the many loops was not my favorite, but for a first timer, the multiple bike and run loops were a great benefit so that you could get the adrenaline ruch from the crowd on each passing.

  • Comments: First off, Thanks to: 1. My wife and son. Erin supported my massive training hours despite being an OG/Gyn attending. She is the best wife a man could have. I tried to train after Nicholas went to sleep and I hope he didn't have to miss his Daddy too much. 2. My Augusta BT buddies: Runnergirl and Run4yrlf have been great friends and have followed and encouraged me for this event. Their experience and caring helped me a great deal! Katiefrog and Swankguy have been good Augusta BT friends as well. GO AUGUSTA, GA TRIATHLETES!!! 3. My BT friends and mentor group: Brian and Donto were my unpaid coaches. They encouraged me when I felt lame or didn't want to work. Jonathan2, Lhablas, DarrellC and TitanIV were a great help to me as well. 4. **RANT ON** All you doubters out there (sorry for this language): "F*** O**" To the rednecks trying to run me off the road. The mom of the kid who threw the rock. the dudes drinking onthe side of the road and laughing at me falling when I was

  • Comments: Anytime you finish an IM, you have to be happy! Although it was my slowest IM and my worst run, I still finished the dang thing. ;-) I'll be back to see what I can do next year on that course. It's a great venue and a good course for me - under any conditions - wind or no wind - that's just part of racing - I should have adjusted for the wind and I didn't - no one to blame but myself on that one - but it's a great course and a great venue - looking forward to doing it again!

  • Comments: It was a great event put on by NA sports! A few complaints but nothing terrible. My special needs run bag was no where to be found and I needed a bandaid for a blister I got. the drink on the bike were hot, not warm, hot. THe aid stations on the run were awesome and the volunteers were just super! So my wife thinks we should do this one togther or Lake Placid in 3 years! Hummmmm! Great to meet all the BT folks. I did get to see Aaron(Jeepfleeb, and chippy on the run course once. I think chippy said something about it being windy out there? Thanks to everyone who has supported me through this race, I didn't qualify for Kona but it was a great experience!

  • Comments: Over 3000 volunteers, a great course, easy to navigate spectator areas, and some of the best organization anywhere. I can't wait to do another NAS-organized IM race. Not this year...Couere d'Alene 2008 maybe? Either way, this was just one hell of a day and I couldn't have imagined it being any better than it was. I had such an awesome time meeting all the BTer's this week. You all rock and I have the utmost respect for each and every one of you! Congrats to all of the IMAZ peeps!!

  • Comments: The people at NA Sports do excellent work. The whole thing was exactly what I wanted my Ironman experience to be. Nervous, gut wrenchingly difficult but oh so worth it. One spectator had a sign that I think sums up the whole day pretty damn well: "Enjoy the pain." I enjoyed the hell out of the pain. I can't believe it's over, but in a way I'm thankful it is. Another IM may be on the horizion, but probably not until IMFL 08 at the earliest.

  • Comments: Well, it's done. I achieved 3 of the numerous goals I had set. 1) I finished. 2) Under 13 hours. 3) 52-55 minute swim. I know one day I will really start to analyze my race and some things will get to me, but while it's still fresh in my head I have to say that I don't think I have anything to be disappointed in. Yes, I wold have liked to have been faster on the bike. But with a flat and those winds, a sub-6 is acceptable to me. My run was a good 1:30 off of what I wanted, but earlier conditions dictated what was to come. I had to play with the cards that were dealt and I feel like I did a decent job. Besides, now I have something to work on getting faster at. For now I think I will stick to a couple HIM's but I have a sneaking suspicion that I'll be at Lake Placid in '08 There were many things that were amazing about this. My parents and home support crew: AMAZING. Tempe, AZ: AMAZING. The Volunteers: AMAZING. And of course, all the BTers: SUPER AMAZING.

  • Comments: Awesome. I am so sad it is over. I beat my time from last year by 90 minutes!!! I am beyond happy with that! I owe a lot of this to Jorge, who is the best coach ever. And my power meter!!! I love that thing.

  • Comments: This was a great race. The plethora of volunteers were just amazing. (Robin in AZ and StandsWithFist - i looked for yall, but didn't see you.) The changing tent aides were splendid. The selection of food on the run was great. The wind did make the course harder, but you can't expect everything, weather included, to go perfectly. It was a good challenge. Overall, I highly recommend.

  • Comments: First, I really need to thank all of you here at BT, especially the coaches, Mike Ricci in particular. Knowing there were people following me online helped me push through the wind and pain. And all the monthly challenges helped me hit numerous smaller goals along the way to IMAZ. Thanks, BT!!!! There is just no way I would have finished this race without this site. Overall, I'm thrilled with my race. I had a great race. No problems at all. Somehow, my placings for this race are WAY above what they were for any of my half iron races. I am always in the bottom third to bottom quarter, and yet here I was in the TOP third for the run and overall. Even the bike, my slowest, I was around the 50% mark. Somehow, it all feels very anticlimactic. I don't know why. The training was really harder than the race, for one thing. Also, I knew I was prepared, and I knew I would finish, short of drowning or crashing. Not because it's easy, but because I had worked so hard for so long, there was no

  • Comments: Great race that has great volunteers. Getting to meet new people from BT and race with them was great. I also had the bonus of being a local and having friends that I train with racing and cheering me. And other friends there. Plus having your name on the race bib is neat... the crowd constantly cheers and instead of saying go guy or keep it going your name is thrown in there and on a long effort like this it was great! I also watched the last 10 minutes of finishers. Pilgrim really wanted to see them and just to see his excitement to watch them finish was inspiring. It was great to yell and clap for the final finishers. I also want to thank my friends on BT that have encouraged me, inspired me, and even a time or too told me to get out and get my training done (that happened when it was cold). And a special thanks go to Gina76 who was awesomely supportive for me and it was neat to know
