  • Comments: This race rocked. The atmosphere was fantastic and fun. Great crowd. Great volunteers. Three of my friends who were watching me signed up the next morning. I will do this race again in a couple of years when I have lost more weight and I have more time to train. Until then, I will be focusing on shorter distance races.

  • Comments: Ironman always puts on a well organized event. As usual, felt very well supported. It is a fast course, but also boring. Three loops is pretty dull. And parts of the run course smell like sewage (a common Phoenix- area problem). IMWI was a better event - prettier course, more fans, better transition assistance - but a slower course.

  • Comments: Parting comments. I like the venue, but the race is so late in the season that it makes it hard to stay focused for. I should come back once I figure out the run, as this course is easily the one built for Ironman PR's. Compared to Louisville or IM Canada the course is way easy.

  • Comments: What an experience. I loved it. Ironman does things right. I can't wait to do it again but I probably won't until 2011 and somewhere else - I have to work on not hating that run course in Arizona. Thanks to all the BT friends out there on Sunday - I hope I didn't forget anybody. It meant a lot to me to have friends out there.

  • Comments: This was a great race, well organized and the volunteers were amazing. I would do this race again. I'll be taking 2010 off because of school but will be back to IM again in the future. I learned a lot during this race and am proud that I problem solved to get myself to the finish line. Thanks to my coaches at UCSD Masters and Multisports.com for getting me to the starting line prepared mentally and physically. Thanks to my husband Charlie for putting up with long workouts and being my long run partner. He pushed me to do this race and I thank him for his support. Thanks to my BT mentor group, Kathy and Judi are great leaders and I can't thank you two enough.

  • Comments: I had a specific plan going into this race and despite all my problems on the bike, I felt I executed it well. I negative split the bike and the run! I didn't let the things going wrong affect my mental state or ability to make good decisions. Physically, I felt great during the whole race.

  • Comments: Its very difficult to write a race report for your first IM because everything I did in the sport from drop 80lbs in 2003, learn to swim, go on my first group rides, and do my first bricks seems a part of it. Then there is the issue of thanking so many people that made it happen. How can you not recognize the amazing sacrifices that family and friends made to allow this day to happen. I appreciated most aspects of the training and everyone along the way. Ultimately, I tried to separate those big issues from the pre-race, race, and post-race in this report knowing full well, they were a huge part of the day. My report may be long, but it is what it is. I start with pre-race. I was heavy going in and had a good 2 week taper going in. I was not sleeping well at home or at the hotel. There were so many details to remember (the event itself is an OCD nightmare) and the packing was a bear in of itself. Tribike transport was a big help. Bike and big bag of stuff off, all I had to do was fill

  • Comments: There is always some active discussion on the value of an IM branded race. I can say for me, that it was worth the price of the entry fee. I enjoyed the entire experience from beginning to end. The organization, support, volunteers are fantastic. Having Mike Reilly start and end your day is not a bad thing. I am very pleased to race with several of my training partners. I thought of them the entire day. All of us had our doubts about this distance and we all finished strong. It was great to have many friends, family, BTers on the course. It all made for a life changing experience.

  • Comments: If it wasn't for my Chiropractor, Dr. Tyler C. Fowler (www.chirodimensions.com) I would not have been able to participate. I had absolutely no pain in my shoulder during the swim.

  • Comments: I cannot believe it's over. Next for me is the emotional letdown after such a high for the last 9 months. I felt it some after my Vineman 70.3 races, but this will have a much bigger impact. I still feel a bit numb as the impact of what I did hasn't hit me yet. It will probably come full circle when I am getting my new tatt! I still go over parts of it in my head like a rerun on a TV screen. These are my feelings and thoughts during this race and what it meant to me: The swim start and the final turn for home, fighting about five other swimmers to the ladders.. how cold I was in T1.. the pain of freezing feet as I was running up to the bike mount area.. Trying to clip in and get my Garmin to work.. my friend Danna talking to me and trying to keep me focused.. getting into my first lap of the bike and worried that I had used too much leg during the final part of the swim, because my legs were not responding.. my feet still hurting until the feeling in them came back about mile

  • Comments: I didn't do a whole lot of training for this race, and my only goal was 16:59:59. I'm really happy that I completed it. For the next one, I plan on training more and nailing nutrition so I don't make 40 bathroom stops over the course of the day, and hopefully knock a couple hours off my overall time. :)

  • Comments: Awesome race. Well organized. My only complaint if I had one was when I went to Run Special needs the volunteers were all high school girls, formed in a gaggle all giggling and talking in a circle, and I had to shout my number 3 times before they realized they were actually there to do a job. OH...and the food at the athlete's dinner was horrible.

  • Comments: This race was awesome and I have nothing to complain about AT ALL. Well organized, super volunteers, smooth roads (what a blessing compared to TX chip seal), timely events, and just completely well organized. I am very pleased with the entire WTC organization. No complaints at all. I appreciate every volunteer out there. I have to put out some major thank you's: first and foremost, to God for giving me the drive, determination, and body to get through this. I'm truly amazed at what the body can go through. Second, to Stephen for coaching me throughout the year. I'm excited to see what he does in the future not just as an athlete but a coach. Third, to my parents for their support of my craziness and for coming out--well, Dad couldn't after the switch cause of work. My siblings haven't written me off and act proud, so I appreciate that, and of course Ben's hilarious face book posts on my status update throughout race day. Fourth, to my BT friends--you have no idea how much I appreciate

  • Comments: Thank you to Jon for being there all day, it was great having a familiar face in the crowd. This is my third Ironman and for the first time I feel like I finally "raced Ironman". I will get my 13:30 time or better, but it was not meant to be at IMAZ 09. 140.6 is a distance that continues to suck me in. The personal challenge of setting a goal and seeing it through. Completing 2 Ironman races this year has been an amazing challenge and personal accomplishment. Thank you for following my training this year!!

  • Comments: Despite maybe not performing as well as I would have liked I still loved this race, it was incredibly hard and physically painful but I was proud of my swim and my effort on the run. The volunteers are amazing, as a volunteer last year I felt so unimportant compared to all these people doing an ironman but being on the other side I was so grateful for every single person out there whether they took my bike for me or stripped my wetsuit or where just out there in the middle of nowhere on the bike cheering they all made the race better. Especially on the run it really helped to have somebody out there every mile to just help me get my mind off of the pain and fatigue and ask how I was and just ask if I needed anything, could not have done it without them. I think it'll be a while before I do another one of these because it really does wreck your body, but typical competitive person that I am I do want to do it again to see how I can improve :).

  • Comments: I didn't know how much I'd like this race- wasn't my first IM choice this year, but it was really terrific. Very different feel in many ways from IMLP, but we enjoyed Tempe and the whole experience.
