  • Comments: Rev3 is MERGING with Challenge. Rev3 and Challenge both have great family friendly events. The weekend was filled with races and activities. It is a smaller venue (under 300 for the full) so its a great race for first timers. The volunteers are great, its organized. The swag is not so great (but you are paying substantially less than IM). Disappointed a finisher shirt is not included - and they ran out and didn't have any at the finishers brunch (I never buy anything race related until AFTER I finish the race). Strange little "man purse" instead of a backpack for swag. Don't know what I'm going to do with it. The course is great - assuming the water is flat (it was a sheet of glass on Friday, had rip current advisory on Saturday and race day it was full-on waves). The bike is fairly flat and the run is completely flat. I won second in my age group, so all things consider, this was an awesome race for me.

  • Comments: I like the race overall. it was my first full distance and despite pain and suffering I got some valuable experience. The organizers and volunteers were helpful and friendly. Not so big crowd. especially on the second lap on the run. maybe if I could be faster I would see more spectators. After finish I have nothing to eat, volunteers offered only the water. Another disappointment was the visor. I personally do not like visors and never wear them. T-shirt would be a better finisher item for me. If I decide to go for full distance again, I would do REV3 again. It is very close to my home, about 2hrs to drive.

  • Comments: Rev 3 put on a good race. I would have liked to see them get set up a day earlier. Ironman had everything set up and running days before the race. They had the better bells and whistles than Rev 3. The fact that Rev 3 had a secondary swim location proved that they care about the athlete experience and are not just there for the money. Case in point was all the lifeguards at the practice swims. I think ironman would have just cut the swim and took the money anyway. Rev 3 is better in that respect. Rev 3 had the great family experience. The amusement park gave families something to do and they even encouraged finishers to have their families run to the finish line with them. Everyone got a free finisher photo and a really cool medal with LED lights. I would do another Rev 3.

  • Comments: With my late arrival, tents were already taken down and people went home, but the finish line was rockin'. Carried the flag as my family finished with me and I loved every minute of it. Rev3 puts on a fantastic race! Kudos to them for having a back-up swim course!!! As a side note, I wanted to get a finisher jacket upon leaving, but they were already packed up. I have the email of the person I need to contact... [email protected]

  • Comments: This is my first 140.6. I wouldn't have done it with any other company. Rev3 allowed me the privilege of running into the finish with my family. I would not have been able to do this race without their support and I felt they deserved to "finish" this race as well.

  • Comments: I loved doing the half last year so i came back to do my first IM here. Everything was good in general. Lots of volunteers, crowd into the finish was great. Something was missing though and i can't put my finger on it. It felt different than last year. My wife said as much as well. it was still great and recommend to anyone. Love the location and activities. Will be back to do half again next year most likely.

  • Comments: The weather was great for the most part, and I was happy that I ran such a consistent race. There were people that finished ahead of me in my AG whose run times suggest that they fell apart somewhat on the run. While I wasn't as fast overall, mainly due to my abysmal swim time, I was happy that I'd paced myself so well. Overall, I was happy with the race organization, although I had a few issues. As I mentioned before, I would have liked to have gotten the T-shirt size I requested, especially for a race that cost this much. It would also be nice if they could move at least some food close to the finish, so those of us who finished after dark and had no outside support didn't have to wander around to find it. Otherwise, the volunteers were great and the actual race went smoothly.

  • Comments: I enjoyed the race, but I was expecting more based on all the hype I have heard about Rev3. The volunteers were great and I thank them all for giving up their time, but it seemed like they may not have been trained up on the race specifics by Rev 3. On the run I went off course several times and none of the volunteers stopped me. I realize that it is my responsibility to know the course, but there were a ton of little turns on the run. Also I only saw 1 or 2 porta potties on the bike. Maybe I missed the rest, but if not, there needs to be more. When I came into the finishers shoot the race official tried to convince me that I had only done one loop and needed to do another - not exactly what you want to hear as you are finishing. The medals have the run distance as 13.1 instead of 26.2. Not much of anything food wise at the finish. All little things, but not even close organizationally to the Ironman branded Lake Placid race I did in 2008. There, you truly felt like a rock star.

  • Comments: Definitely some good things about the race but I thought it fell a little short in some areas as well. I think the smaller full-iron field was nice for a first-timer, but it did lack some of the excitement as well. The course, though easy to navigate for fans, was pretty empty other than the aid stations. Biggest positives were the high-quality of some of the race materials as well as some nice things like the finish line jumbotron and free finisher photos. Biggest negatives were at times boring and empty course, some areas of disorganization before the race (I didn't get a dry-clothes bag, they didn't have my age number tattoos, etc.) and some weak swag and post-race food (cotton shirts with strange off-center and crooked logos, misprinted medals (though they are being fixed), not much to speak of in actual swag bags (they had goggles in them, but goggles only fit certain faces, so I would much rather a race shirt or bottle instead that anyone can use)).

  • Comments: Overall for the price, I thought it was sub-par. The grab back was lacking, the finish medal didn't even have the right distances on the medal! Post race food was a let down.

  • Comments: Really well done race. Rev3 does what they say they do. I can list complaints easily since there are so few: 1) I registered on Monday prior to the race for the full and they had me registered for the half - the resolved on-site with no issues 2) Athlete brunch Monday AM was LAME. Bagels and muffins. I just did an IM... give me some eggs or something. 3) Practice swim was cancelled Monday AM with no online notice.

  • Comments: If youre going to do 140.6 do an Ironman event. Rev does a fine job, but it doesn't compare. I've only done one of each, but I wouldn't do another 140.6 with anyone else. Ironman does it best. The city didn't care about the race. Cedar Point staff was okay. They did work their asses off to get the beach ready, which was really cool. Check in was a cluster. A pro in front of me in line didn't have any stickers, because the volunteer had given them to the pro in front of him in line. Whoops. I was given the wrong swim cap at first, as was my friend in line with me. Nothing was set up when the expo started. We were there at 12: 30 and it started at 12, but few were actually ready. I'm glad I did it, but will stick to IM from now on.

  • Comments: Once again, Rev 3 is just a class act and puts on a great race. I sure don't mind giving them my money when they do things this well. If you have not done a Rev 3 event, you should do so! Thanks also to all of the volunteers. The guys in the change tent were awesome and the people on the course were great.

  • Comments: I had such a blast hanging out with Amy in the days leading up to the race. This sport still amazes me in the wonderful friendships I have formed in the name of racing and training. I'm excited for Amy to go sub 11, it's just around the corner for her! This year I am reminded of what makes Ironman special for me..you can lose your job, your spouse, your house....all 3 of which have happened to me in the past 9 months. However, my Ironman finishes are something I carry in my heart and are something special I can never lose. To Michael you were may inspiration for this race, keep fighting!! Thank you to those who continue to inspire me through my training and for those who have contributed to my fundraising. One more Ironman to go this season.....there's a PR with my name on it in Tempe :)

  • Comments: Could not find ANY food anywhere after the race, not that I was really all that hungry but a slice of pizza would have been good, but other than that this was a pretty well run race. The bike and particularly the run courses were a little boring, so I'm not sure I would do this race again. But Rev3 does a great job, so I would definitely consider one of their other races in the future. The sting of my failure in this race is going to sit with me for a long time, but I'll be at Ironman Wisonsin next year to get my revenge!

  • Comments: Since its been a few days since the race, I've had time to digest the fact that I didn't put up the performance I know that I am capable of. But who cares? This race put to rest all of the crap that I've had to go through over the last several years. Divorce, moving to 3 different states, getting laid off twice, cancer scare #2... its all over. I've finally been able to get my life in order so that I can do the one thing that's been on my list for 3 years. There wasn't anything that would have kept me from toeing that line. I can't say enough good things about this race!!! Everything was perfectly excuted (although I could have done with less buoys on the swim). The little touches made this race so awesome. Running through the finishers banner was so great! And last, but not least, a big fat thank you to Jon for being the best sherpa EVER. He spent the entire summer giving up his weekends to ride with me or wait for me, listen to me bitch, cry, whine, moan, etc. He got up

  • Comments: Great race. Any first time race has its bugs but this group did a fanastic job. Dealing with possibly having to shift the swim course, to bouys being blow accross Lake Erie to Canada, to chip sealing the roads, this crew dealt with alot of adversity and put out a great product. Having a race a Cedar Point was a thing of genius. The organization went way ou of their way to make it a great experience including the announcer acually acting as a bike mechanic and changing out a racers wheel which had been damaged in T1, so they could finish their first IM. Grat showing from the pros to. Finally (As a huge NASCAR fan I've always wanted to do this) I need thanks my sponsors. Team Trakkers for the great support and the Trakkers devices, Kestral Bikes for my awesome Talon Tri SL, Sauconey for making the best and most comfortable pair of running shoes I run in for a marathon, to SBR for Tri-Slide and Foggle which allowed me to see and did a great job keeping the blisters away, to First

  • Comments: This was Rev3's first full distance, and I think they did a heroic job. My only comment in the negative is that they may have overpromised on the spectator-friendly stuff, with regards to the actual race. Trakkers didn't come through, the chip time splits were showing up weird on the Web, video was only of the pros, or so it seemed to my family, and the promised computer kiosks to check on racers on the course were either not there or not obvious. But seriously, it is hard to put on something like this. They did great. From a participant perspective, it was near-perfect.

  • Comments: I had great few days hanging out with good friends. It was fun to race, but spending time with people that share the same passion and dreams is special. There really is an amazing connection in the triathlete community. Abbie - Thanks for being such a good roomie!! :-) Tons of fun! You are my hero! I had a great time hanging out. We had so many good stories to share!!! This was the first full ironman for Rev3. Nice job for their first race. I anticipate many improvement for their future ironman races.

  • Comments: This was by far the best race I've ever done. Rev3 is incredible. They did a tremendous job of organizing the race and making sure that everything went smoothly. They had lots of little touches that really made this enjoyable, little things like having pans of water to rinse your feet off inside T1 and having that banner at the finish line. That last bit was such a little thing but meant so much. They treated everyone coming across that finish line like they were the winner. An incredible, excruciatingly painful, tortuous, and awesomely exhilarating experience.
