  • Comments: Eagleman is one of the longest-standing 70.3 races in North America and for good reason! The spirit of Gerry Boyle, the late Race Director is now the namesake of the Park where the event was held, and the new race director Angie Hengst carried on Gerry's legacy brilliantly! This is a true Racer's course. The swim is fair. The Bike is pancake flat and super fast on super smooth, non-technical roads. The Run is just as flat and fast. If your lucky as all of us in 2021 to get a day with cool-ish temps and mild winds, if you pace correctly and nail your nutrition, you're almost guaranteed a ridiculously fast time.

  • Comments: There's a reason this race has been put on for such a long time. Branded races always have incredible support, and this one was no exception. The volunteers were plentiful and awesome. Wish the post-race food had been something other than pizza!

  • Comments: Eagleman is a fast flat course, but when the heat and high temps show up, it's a challenge. The aid stations helped me finish this race. I've completed this race three times and each time has been harder and slower. But I'll be back.

  • Comments: --Overall organized race. There was an issue with 2 other athletes with a GIRO 2 helmet with the CPSC sticker in it but an official telling them they could not use that helmet for ???? reason. --Had a slot to WC70.3 in Austria but I did not go to the roll down. My mistake. =)

  • Comments: A great race, and one that I fully enjoy. This is my 3rd year doing this race and I will do it again next year. The town of Cambridge and the residents are great and are gracious hosts. Kudos to all the volunteers as well... they had a hard day.

  • Overall course based on my ability:

  • Comments: Overall. Poor swim and run. Good transitions and bike. Heat played a role, but it was just as warm the previous year and my run was 10 mins slower. Nutrition – Bike - 600 cal Infinit - 4 scoops - 1000 sodium. 8 capsules of salt stick - 1500 sodium. Total sodium - 2500 (1000/hr) Run - 3 x GU - 150 sodium. 7 capsules of salt stick - 1350 sodium. Total sodium - 1500 (1000/hr) Hydration – Hit every aid station on bike. On run, took water, Gatorade and ice every station. Peed once on bike around mile 50. Takeaways – Poor run. Over-bike? Felt hot during bike. Perhaps holding back a little on bike would’ve saved some time on run, but not much. Recovery – Nothing abnormal.

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: First aid station on bike was in a crappy place. Less than 100 yds from a sharp right turn. Two times I asked for vasoline on the run it was packed away. But the biggest screw up was the race officials CLAIMING that you had to wear a top in the swim and THEN changing the ruling after the first 14 waves had started. Come on!

  • Comments: It's taken me a few years to gather the courage to participate in this race. I've heard the stories of how bad the heat is and how tough the winds are. It was a solid race (and the conditions were ideal). The swag is great, the volunteers are awesome, love the crowds cheering the racers on. It can be complicated to figure out how to get to the race and get your gear in and out because you have to park so far away or take the shuttle. I was glad I had previewed the course twice in the month prior, so I was familiar with the local roads and the course.

  • Comments: Amazing job by TriColumbia. These people had their act together. Really well done race from check in to finish and everything in-between! SWAG was amazing (even the pros commented on it) The Tri-bag is awesome. For a weekend warrior, this was a great course. I feel lucky to have participated in this event. On course staff was amazing, great volunteers, awesome locals cheering people on. Police handling traffic were great. Other athletes were kind and friendly. I would love to do this race again. Had an amazing time. First class all the way. Thanks TriColumbia for an amazing first experience!

  • Comments: On the mudfest that was Transition: With the incredible amount of rain the area received 36 hours prior, and being on the water, and named "Great Marsh Park", it's understandable that there would be some mud/wet grass. The transition area was set up differently from last year, that I think resulted in longer runs on grass with the bike, compared to last year. The organizers probably had a reason to change transition set up, but may not have considered the rain situation. They did the best they could given the situation. By some accounts, this year was worse for drafting, but others said it was a typical year. It sounds like any flat course has the potential, since they spread the waves out, with faster groups starting towards the back, it is naturally set up to bunch up.

  • Comments: Race was well done. Transition area was a mess but not much you can do about the weather. Lots of really serious racers. Quality of field was very high. Guess the Kona slots bring all the heavy hitters in.

  • Comments: This race creates a long day, as I have to be up about 3:45 to get there in time, but the race organizers make it worth it. Overall it is a great, well-run race, and it's especially good when it's not so blazing hot. Would definitely recommend.

  • Comments: I am very pleased with my first half ironman effort. The flat course was perfect for me. However, just because it was flat does not mean that it's easy. There was no opportunity to rest the legs during the bike which they were obviously used to with the regular training. More training on trainer and tow path for flat races. My time rocked.

  • Comments: Tri Columbia constantly puts on a good Eagleman. Even with the change in mgmt at Tri Columbia they still get it down and do it right. My only comment is that it's a super long day for everyone. Especially, racers with families. Those of us sticking around for the awards and slot allocation had a very long wait this year. I realize there were lots of penalties that had to be scored and adjusted but getting out of there at 6:30 PM or later when I'm done racing before noon is not my idea of fun. Others had it worse. I only had a 3 hour drive. Some people I knew were driving back to New England or Ohio/Pittsburgh.
