  • Comments: This was the first triathlon that my mom has ever come to to watch me race. And this was my first age group win. I am normally just out of the placements, so this was a total and utter surprise for me, and it just ticked the shit out of me. My dad grew up not far from the race site, so I felt his presence the whole race. And to win in front of my mom, well, that was just icing on the cake. I will say that it's way more fun to race when you win something, and it makes the drive home soooo much easier! My coach told me when I started with her that she would make me competitive. I didn't believe her. Now, I'm under no delusions that I'm gonna start placing in all my races, but now I know that I am competitive. It all depends on who shows up on race day anyway, but it sure does feel good to walk away with an award.

  • Comments: As if my run wasn't bad enough, when I went to check on the preliminary results, I saw I got slapped with a USTA Penalty (My First). Seems they didn't like the placement of my GYM BAG in the TA. I had set it out of the way inbetween two racks and apparently that is a violation. So those extra 2:00 cost my a 2nd place in my group, dropped to fifth with the penalty. I guess I'll know better next time. Seems a little picky to me though.

  • Comments: By far the best sprint I've ever done. Also the first time I've gotten an age group award, and I won!! How'd that happen?

  • Comments: Great race. I'll do it again next year (and won't fall on that darn dirt road)!

  • Comments: The race organization was ok - I'm just not a fan of the dirt road bike/run setup. I knew it when I signed up, so I'm not complaining. I just don't think I'll do this race next year because of it. I still think Set Up Events puts on good races.

  • Comments: Great race, only complaint is I wish the road was paved for the biking, but I guess the dirt road and the three loop trail run makes this a unique tri which is why I did it in the first place.
