  • Comments: There is no where else to be on Thanksgiving than in Manchester running the road race. It's been a staple in our house for decades. Both kids ran (bandited) and we all talked about our experiences later at home. Love the costumes. A bit chilly but in reality 40-50 degrees is perfect. A new record was set today-nice!

  • Comments: It's iconic! Second oldest road race in NE, behind Boston. I rarely miss 'Thanksgiving in Manchester'. Variable weather makes it even more fun. And by doing the race, I never worry about what I can't eat on Turkey day. Love this race.

  • Comments: The iconic Manchester Road Race is THE place to be on Thanksgiving Day-enough said about that. My wife rocked it with another sub 49. Mike made his goal of sub 45 by 3 seconds and my youngest son Kyle beat me by 5 seconds to claim fastest in the family, for the first time. A great day! https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/967403112 av HR=145/peak=157

  • Comments: Go to have fun and see the costumes but don't plan on getting in a good race or even a good workout if you don't seed to the front. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

  • Comments: I LOVE doing this race, but one day, I'd like to be at the start line again prepared to race it hard and see how close to sub 30 I can come.

  • Comments: Maybe the most fun race to date. There were no less thank 20 bands playing along the route, spectators (and many racers) drinking heavily, and a really awesome vibe. I don't plan on missing this race again anytime soon. I also really liked the distance. Just under 5 miles allows you to try to run your 5k pace and suffer a little bit longer. Long enough race where you have to keep your mental focus but short enough where you know the suffering will end soon and you can just suck it up. Also of note, I lined up in the back of my seed group, a little tentative about how I would perform. Despite my under 35 minute seeding, the gate behind our section was opened a few minutes before the start, and many people shoved their way up into the front of our seed group. It was a real pain to have to get through and past these people. It would be wise to start next year at the front of my seed group and try to push up onto the back of the group ahead of me. Starting with a big adrenaline

  • Comments: Great crowd. Alot of fun. As much a social event as a race.

  • Comments: This was my first year running this. I was expecting chaos just because of the sheer number of people, but it was well organized and everything went smoothly. The city shuts down downtown and it's a huge party along the whole course. All the bars open up, there were at least 15 bands playing along the race course. Spectators set up there own water (and a few beer) stops. Probably the best running race I've run.

  • Comments: There should really be a better party after, but I guess that everyone just wants to go to Thanksgiving. They should look into limiting the number of participants. Too many peeps (1000's)were still not corralled at the gun.

  • Comments: having never participated before, wasn't sure what to expect...but having done a 5K in October, I was looking forward to a water station and the only one we saw, was completely out before we got there. LOTS OF PEOPLE! Need to get creative with a costume idea for next year!

  • Comments: The Manchester Road Race is an amazing event and one that everyone should have the experience to be a part of at some point. This year, the whole shuttle bus thing just really broke down and the shear number of participants made it really difficult to run your race, but it was fun to be part of it. I've run this race 4 times. 2003 50:42, 2004 53:06, 2005 43:09, 2008 42:50--so a PR for me this year in this race. It think they should break up the chute a bit more and actually rope off the sections or maybe have a second seeding for people that run 40-48--or something...

  • Comments: One of the classic New England Races, up there with the Boston Marathon and Falmouth. The weather is ALWAYS crappy, it's just part of the tradition. Great crowds, great competition. Where else do you find 10+ guys running sub-5 pace? And, for 25 bucks, it's not even all that expensive. Great timing system and results archive.

  • Comments: A big thank you to the Manchester Department of Public Works. With teh 3" of snow at race time, I was pretty much expecting a kind of slushy run, and was really worried about the big downhill and how icy it would be. Turns out they did an awesome job clearing the streets. Everything was wet, but no snow or ice on the road.
