  • Comments: W00t: - 4th in AG, 7th overall – not a bad standing for having a crappy day - A very pretty course and superb race organization. Highly recommend! Don't go looking for a PR though :) Meh: - Bummer to miss the podium by about 2 minutes. I keep thinking "if only I could have stuck with the pack at the swim" or "if only I could have had faster transitions" or "if only I didn't get the stupid leg cramps"... But 2 minutes is 2 minutes. I just didn't have it yesterday. - I need to learn how to manage the heat better – not sure how to do it in Seattle though. I guess I'll just keep going to hot places to race (next up – Troika in Spokane!) - Definitely need to work on my climbing strength – I just didn't have the stamina to keep my watts up for 7 miles up the hill...

  • Comments: Loved this race last year so decided to do it again to see if it was because I was on a high from it being my first HIM or if it really was that good....it really was THAT good!! I love this race and course. The best organization, the best volunteers and the best people!

  • Comments: Drove down from Kelowna on Saturday, and met up with Sara, Chris and a group of other CSracing athletes at the beach. Had a blast practicing swim starts and sighting. Reminded me of that Clif Bar commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3S0wu4Zbfk I felt great in the water, and so happy and fortunate to be there. I definitely went into this race feeling like I was primed and ready to go. Second race in a row, where I had some surprise stresses to deal with prior to the race. At Wasa, it was driving my car over that huge rock and blowing my tire on the way to the race. This time it wasn’t AS bad, but I was jolted awake at midnight to the sound of the fire alarm at the hotel. Nothing like going from a calm, pre-race sleep to heart rate of 160 in a split second. A trip down to the lobby revealed it was a false alarm. After what seemed like forever, I managed to calm back down, and fall back asleep, only to be awoken 2 hours later by the phone ringing. Wrong number. SERIOUSLY!?! Needless

  • Comments: It's hard to give an excellent rating to this race because I haven't been to other half iron distance races. Negatives: the buoy/swim caps colour thing alluded to above. I would have liked a better fitting ball cap in my race package. i.e. not too much negative! Positives: Everything else. The post-race give away/door prize was masterfully done! Really enjoyed the athletes I met. Some nods to some cool Terrace and Victoria, B.C., and New Zealand dwellers. The Sask athletes were fantastic, too.

  • Comments: Awesome race and VERY glad I did it. I really had to push myself which is what I wanted. I've never felt like I wasn't sure if I was going to finish a race or not - but now I have. It was my first time doing a Half Iron and am really pleased with the result.

  • Comments: I HAD A GREAT TIME! I know your thinking but you had a bad race...yeah but the volunteers and the race director and racing with my friend were great. EXPERIANCE IS THE BEST. If you ask me, I won't say that it was easy. IT was HARD and I think this has made me a stronger athlete. I know I have the BALLS to finish a race when I feel Like dropping out and even my mental state was saying it. GREAT RACE EXPERIANCE
