  • Post race activities? Good
  • Overall course based on my ability: Just right

  • Comments: Best and first traditional (outside of bike length) sprint. I've realized that what I thought was my strongest discipline (swimming) is the one I will need the most work with. It is not the open water that is the problem, it is the mass of bodies around me.

  • Comments: Not badly run, but it seemed like things took a little while to get going that morning (partially waiting for fog on the lake to clear). I was a little disappointed by the (dis)organization of transition area, sturdiness of the bike racks, and the post race food. Not much protein! The bike racks that were on the hill (my rack) kept falling over, and I think it would have made sense to have the transition areas for the half and the sprint separate, if at all possible. Then we wouldn't all have been getting in each others' way.

  • Comments: Not too well organized, maybe because there were so many participants. Crazy at check-in, not enough people to mark and to hand out packets. Tiny transition area which was confusing about where the bike and run out were and because everyone had so little space there was crap in the way. IMO, they accepted too many participants. 50 people per wave and 32 waves = 1600. Two massage therapists after the sprint. Drafting occurred during the bike--a large group that was working together. No penalties assessed in the results. That is not good. They must have ran out of flags and cones and at the finish people went running the wrong way because they had the path go over grass and it looked wrong since there was a nice clear path that wasn't blocked off that also looked like to went to the finish line. A bunch of us stood there to point people to the right direction until someone found a Midwest Sports person and asked them put a barrier to direct people properly. Dangerous at points on the

  • Comments: Didn't know what to expect for 1st tri. 307 of 382 men, I'll take it. 46 of 53 in AG and 29 of 36 in Clydesdale division. Overarching goal to finish - check. Time goal of 2:30 missed by 9 minutes, too much time in transition and cramping on run. Will definitely do another sooner rather than later ... but first will work on my conditioning especially for the run.

  • Comments: Always fun to race as a family, Scott went 5 min faster than at Liberty coming in with a cold, Barb enjoyed herself. Good to see so many TriRochester athletes and many with great results! The overall rankings are men only at this race. I was beat by 3 women, so including females I was 46/639. I only throw this in because most races combine genders for overall results.
