  • Comments: This race was pretty good, but it definately seemed more like a first year event rather than an event that's been around for eight years. The time delay seemed really unprofessional, and there were not enough volunteers. Many of the volunteers actually seemed like they didn't know the course or what their job was. There weren't any signs directing us to anything, and there definatley needed to be more people on the bike course to help stop traffic for us. Overall, it was a decent race, but after competing in some events organized by Set Up Events, it's hard not to compare everything else to them. I definately had fun.

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: My first triathlon. Not sure why I did an ocean swim for my first race without any OWS experience or swimming experience in general except that my sister and I decided to do this on a whim. Unbelievable experience though. I've been hooked ever since.

  • Comments: Thank God for the bike specialists from the local shops. Without their help, I couldn't have done it!

  • Comments: It's a well-run race, and the woman who organizes it is really nice. They did a good job watching traffic for the most part, that semi notwithstanding. Wish they had had some real food at the end--I was dying for a pizza. :) No real activities at the end, but talking to people is always fun. You know, I didn't improve my time over Wilmington, and the swim was only half as long, but so freakin' what? I started training for this in May after volunteering at Nelson Bay, and since that time, I've sucessfully completed two sprint tris, a one-mile beach run, a 5k, and an 8k over two high-rise bridges. I've also handled the break-up of my marriage (had to be done), am raising a happy, healthy, cool little boy, and I've made a rich life for myself and him in our new town. I'm very, very proud of myself right now.
