Reasons and Motivation to Triathlon Train

I began my run today like I always do by thinking about things other than running. I knew I needed to write an article, but I had not chosen a topic yet. So I ran through the forest of my mind searching for a topic and still drew a blank. I started wondering what made me get out here today in this humid hot weather and run. What is my motivation? Then it clicked!  I would write about motivation. In the last week a fellow athlete of this website needed some motivation. So I, along with others, passed along words of encouragement to her. But I began thinking about types of motivation there is for all types of people. There are far to many to list, but here are a few that might get you out of your seat or be a ray of sunshine on a dark day.

First, do it for yourself, because you feel better about yourself and it makes you feel like you are alive. Do it for your family (wife, kids, etc.) because by doing this you will be healthier and eventually live longer and be there for them a lot longer. Do it because you can. There are so many people in this word that are not physically able to do these activities. When your alarm goes off for that early morning workout don't think about the extra hour of sleep, think that there is someone in this world that would love to be able to get up and run, bike, or swim. I am a religious person and the Bible verse Phil: 4:13- "I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me" gives me strength for the final push at the end of a workout. Think about how it will feel to know that the sacrifices you made will pay off as soon as you start the race, but moreover think about the satisfaction of finishing as soon as you cross the finish line. Above all else - believe. Believe that you can do it and you will. Motivation is not limited to these things. Motivation can come from a person or a thing. My motivation right now is coming from the girl I am dating and the Lance Armstrong book. What is your motivation?

Once again I hope you like it.  Catch you on the flip side.
