Funny how 10K's are rare eh?  This is a very fun event.  You'll have a blast Vinny.  Well, until you get to the FOUR HILLS you have to climb.  You'll go over two bridges on the way out, and then the same two on the way back.  Miles 2, 3, 4, and 5.

Last year...RED TIDE.  Smelled like...well, I won't say.  But anyway, it was bad.  Usually very humid so drink ALOT of water before you get there.  We need to start training for it...next week! LOL

I came very close to signing up for the 10k as well. I want to start increasing my run distance, but not until after my first TRI. Which is two weeks later, I don't want anything like shin splints bugging me just before Morton Plant Mease. So I think I'm going to run the 5K that night.  This will also be a first time I start a race one day and finish the following, unless I do it in 25 minutes. (which I dont see happening.)

So will I get two green squares for this?

Haha!!  It'll be a fun night!  I was tempted to do both races, but I'll be coming off of Crystal River the day before, so I don't wanna push it.  Every year I say I won't do this stupid 10K the next year, and I always do anyway.  So I'm sure I'll be saying the same thing again!  Hopefully I'll do better this time than last year...my race last year was actually WORSE than the previous year...by three minutes!!!

Does the 5K get a bridge too? I could use more hill work.

I'm pretty sure you run over the first one...and the first one is the big one, so you'll get your hill workout.

I'm 90% sure that I wont be running this 5k afterall. Looks like I'll be taking the plunge into a longer distance (10K). I figure I wont push it too hard and will have almost 2 weeks to recover for Morton Plant Mease Sprint. I'll decided soon, then I'll register so I can't back down.

Hey you guys...I think it's time we start thinking about where/when to meet up.  Jess is doing the 10K with us, and Sue might come out too.  But for the one mile we need to meet up and get our signs on our shirts.  I can take care of making the signs, I have a color laser printer here at work.  We won't have to worry about inkjet toner all over us.  Plus it'll be in color so it will look cool!

The one mile is at 11 so we'll need to be at the site by 1040 or so to get everything set.  5K is at 11:35 and 10K is at 12:15.

I was just going to ask if anyone else was joining us for the one mile as well. Ok, I'll let you decide on a location to meet, I've only been there once. I'll be getting there about 1030. Does anyone else want a Guiness after the race, I plan on having one waiting on ice for me when I finish.

Thanks again for the idea and preparing of the signs Jeff.

Let's meet exactly where you and I met when we did our OWS.  That's where the race starts and finishes.  So...at the corner of Alternate 19 and Curlew Road.  1030pm.

VINNY!  Take heed!  LOL   Email me if you need directions...

You'll see it.  It'll be the place with 1000 people walking around at midnight! LOL  It's directly on the corner of Alternate 19 and Curlew...not US 19...Alternate 19...it's called Bayshore Blvd in Dunedin.

THAT WOULD BE AWESOME BETSY!!!  We're gonna do the one mile for fun/warmup.  I'm definitely racing the 10K, I need to see where I am on that level.  But we'll be having fun regardless.  You should definitely come out, it'll be a blast!!!
