Comments: Went far better than expected, given that my longest training run was only 8 miles. Walked the water stations but nothing else. I felt pretty good - slow and steady - until mile 11 or so, when I really started to feel the lactic acid in my quads and glutes, and started feeling the impact on my knees and lower back. I think I paced it pretty well, and I was spent at the end (that climb to the finish line almost did me in!) so I think I did just about as well as I could have. What would you do differently?: Train more! Post race
Warm down: Walked around just to keep moving, did just enough stretching that I wouldn't cramp up in the car. What limited your ability to perform faster: Undertraining Event comments: The course was challenging, especially because it was my first half marathon, but I enjoyed it. I would definitely run it again, though maybe with a little more training under my belt. Last updated: 2008-02-13 12:00 AM

Got to the race site around 8 for packet pickup. Hung around in a Dunkin' Donuts for awhile since it was freezing outside and the start wasn't until 9:30. Around 9:15 stripped down to my race clothes, stood around and tried not to freeze until the starting gun.
No real warmup - I just used the first few miles of the race to warm up.
