Pre-race routine:

2 cups of coffee(too much).... milk and cereal..... 2 hours before race
Event warmup:

rode bike about a mile to the race site, set up transition, ran for about 10 minutes. never did feel ready though...a little nervous, coupled with too much coffee
Run
  • 16m 36s
  • 2 miles
  • 08m 18s  min/mile
Comments:

probably did the first mile too fast(7.49), and I immediately went back to old form of running.
What would you do differently?:

Run my race and not get distracted by others pace.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

first transition went well. I think I stayed calm and did a nice job
What would you do differently?:

hook bike by the seat and not the handlebars, and make sure I leave running shoes in good shape for the return.
Bike
  • 45m 64s

  • 15.63 mile/hr
Comments:

I didn't have the legs today at all. Partly because of the workout earlier in the week, and undoubtedly the 2 mile run prior to this. Legs felt very fatigued.
What would you do differently?:

Ride my race, and keep up a set cadence. For now, don't worry about who's doing what around you. Have more focus on my race, and don't try to keep up with everyone else
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

I felt pretty good about this transition. I was very fatigued, but walking the entrance pre race definitely paid off. I think I was pretty calm during the whole thing, and it seem to go well.
What would you do differently?:

I now know there are two entrances in this type of race, one for the run, and one for the bike. Check out both of them before the race.
Run
  • 16m 50s
  • 2 miles
  • 08m 25s  min/mile
Comments:

Legs felt crazy after the bike. They didn't know what the hell hit them. But I remembered reading to just run through it at first, and the legs will come to you. No kick in the end though, plowed through to the finish.
What would you do differently?:

More brick workouts I think
Post race
Warm down:

drink and a jacket, packed up shit and rode bike home.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

muscular endurance.

Event comments:

First race of this kind. I was happy, but really want to do a lot better.
