Run
Comments: My first mile split was 8:3something. That was way too fast for me. I started to get dropped in mile three, which was punishing mentally and physically. I've been dealing with some knee pain and hamstring cramps recently. Both of which were caused by running in the wrong shoes. It turns out the shoes that were right for me at 240, are not right for me at 210. I had to move down from a motion control shoe to a stability shoe. This was my first time in those new shoes, which is generally a bad idea but I took the risk because I didn't want to risk additional injury in my old shoes. The responsible thing to do would have been to scrap this run and just train instead, but what fun would that be. What would you do differently?: Drink a bit more a few hours before. Not run so fast in the beginning. I felt really awful in the last mile because I went to fast in the first. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Heart and lungs, always cardio for me... Event comments: I'm going with too hard because after coming off of running mostly indoors all winter, this course was pretty brutal based on my current abilities. I wasn't used to this many hills and the wind. Last updated: 2009-03-07 12:00 AM
