Pre-race routine:

Had a slimfast one hour before race. Was in the restroom 20 minutes before start. May need to work on another pre-race fuel option.
Event warmup:

Light streching and very short jog.

Need to get to race more than 30 minutes prior to start so I have sufficient time to strech and warm up.

Comments:

Had a good run wanted to finish with an eight minute mile average and beat it by 32 seconds.
What would you do differently?:

Start a litle slower. Came out fast with the 7.24 first milewanted to be slower and pick up the speed. My heart rate was in the 170's by the second mile and could never get it back into the 160's. Was able to maintain though and complet in the time I was aiming for.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked and jogged with Dawson.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Needed a little more time to warm up and get my head into the race before it started.

Event comments:

This was a nice 10 mile run and a good set up for my intentions to run the half marathon in Lincoln Nebraska the first of May.

Course: Rolling hills all paved streets and trail. Starts at Washburn University and goes through residential areas to the west and south of campus. The 4 mile mark is with in a quarter mile of my house so I have made miles 4 to 9 of this course part of my prep training. The familiarity was very helpful and I felt a second wind when I started covering this portion of the race.
