Pre-race routine:

Bfore bed the night before, I had a PBJ sandwhich and alot of water. I woke up at ~5am and had a bowl of cereal and a large glass of water. About 1.5 hours before start time, I had a banana.
Event warmup:

Not much warmup beyond doing a lap in the pool before we started
Swim
  • 06m 27s
  • 325 yards
  • 01m 59s / 100 yards
Comments:

I felt great during the swim - I surprised myself on my pace - I have never been able to maintain a 2:00/100 yard pace for this distance. Must have been the adrenaline.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

I was shadowing Patrick for this tri, so I waited for him to finish. Therefore there was no rush on my part.
What would you do differently?:

I would like to have shorts that I can use for the swim and then the bike/run, innstead of changing out of swim trunks and into bike shorts. Otherwise, I felt like I had everything set up pretty well.
Bike
  • 1h 11m
  • 10 miles
  • 8.45 mile/hr
Comments:

#@!*&$ FLAT! with 1.5 miles to go, I got a flat that took 15 minutes to change. I had been shadowing Patrick on the bike ride and we were averaging about 13-14mph...Patrick kept on going and I never caught up with him again.
What would you do differently?:

I had all the tools needed to fix the flat, but I could have had better tire removal tools. I also think I need to pracice taking off and putting back on my rear tire!
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

I kept my cycling shoes on and then sat down to change my shoes. It probably took longer, but it worked for me.
What would you do differently?:

I'll practice transition times before my June race
Run
  • 23m 30s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 35s  min/mile
Comments:

Mile 1 - 9:30 (I think it was a long mile - I felt like I was doing 8:30-9:00 pace... after that I averaged better than 7:30. I know I was going fast, but i again surprised myself on my pace. I felt very strong at the end of the race. i brought my water bottle with me during the run
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Post race
Event comments:

I did not have a goal for this tri, other than to shadow Patrick. I was very pleased with my swim time and because of the flat, the silver lining was that it allowed to push on the run, which yielded a very good time. Bike portion was great up until the flat.
