![]() Swim
Comments: For my first open water swim, I think it went well. I had to tell myself to control my breathing once we first started. After I settled into a good pace, I felt good. Surprisingly, I stayed on course better than I had thought. What would you do differently?: Nothing. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: The T1 time wasn't recorded due to a glitch. It was included in the bike time. From what I remember on my watch, it was about a minute and a half. (and I beat Brad). The wetsuit was surprisingly easy to get off...I am sure the bodyglide helped a lot! What would you do differently?: I forgot tot take off my shoe covers the night before. Once I started running and didn't hear the typical noise, I realized I left them on. Probably added about 15 seconds or so. ![]() Bike
What would you do differently?: Ride faster and drink more. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Didn't take my feet out of my shoes while I was still on the bike. The end of the bike course was right near our bike rack which helped the T2 time. Overall, went well. What would you do differently?: Nothing. ![]() Run
Comments: By the time I racked by bike, I had to the bathroom. I was progressively in more pain as the run continued and I contemplated jumping into the bushes! What would you do differently?: I don't really know...find a bathroom or a bush! ![]() Post race
Warm down: Short walk to loosen up. Drank some water and had some oranges and a bagel. What limited your ability to perform faster: Find a bathroom! Event comments: Overall, the race was fun and a good start to the season. There were no port-a-johns in or around the race area. Also, the transition area could have been set up better. The chute for the swim exit and bike start was the same which happened to be at the farthest end from my bike rack. The end of the bike course was right near our rack though. There was also no announcer at the end of the race, so it was a little anti-climactic. They did have free BBQ, right Brad!? Since we were able to stay with Brad's mom and turn the trip into a weekend vacation with them, it was worth it. Last updated: 2005-05-02 12:00 AM

Ate an english muffin with peanut butter and had some water about 1 hour before.
Short jog to the bathrooms. Ended up being locked! There were no port-a-johns in or around the race area.
