Mounted bike too early. Had to dismount and move forward.

Need New cycling shoes.

Again, the hills were very difficult. I overshifted on the large one and threw the chain off the front chainring. I had to run up the hill and used a lot of energy.

I need more hill training.

Left knee began to hurt badly after first downhill.

I jockeyed for position with another runner early on. He passed me when I stopped to walk and shake out my knee. I was finally able to pass him again with about 1/2 mile left to go. I began to pick up my pace on the last 200m and someone from the crowd yelled "sprint!". He tried to pass me, but I sprinted ahead and was able to keep him behind me. Very good finish.
What would you do differently?:

Fix my knee. My cardio was not the limiting factor.. my legs were.

Swim - Slow people in way
Bike - Not accustomed to hills
Run - Knee pain
