Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 20/107
Pre-race routine:

1 small rye-bread sandwich with dark chocolate 1h before swim.
5mns run 20mns before swim.
5mns stretch 10mns before swim.
Swim
  • 06m 32s
  • 400 meters
  • 01m 38s / 100 meters
Comments:

Best swim time. 6mns32s is 30s quicker than in training. Proof that training slowly does have an huge effect on speed swimming. I also enjoyed the swim.
What would you do differently?:

Swim faster. I paced myself and since the distance was quite short, by the last 100m I realised I could go faster but did not have much left to take advantage of that. Overall great swim.
Transition 1
  • 00m 40s
Comments:

I had practiced that transition and it showed.
What would you do differently?:

I would practive some more but with my HR at 160, not 120... It took me a while to get my bearings once I got to the transition point.
Bike
  • 30m 2s
  • 20 kms
  • 39.96 km/hr
Comments:

NIce ride but the last 2m were 1.5m up-hill, by which point I had a cramp in my right leg. It took me 5mns to get rid of it.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more. Find a rythm.
Transition 2
  • 01m
Comments:

I lost my bearings and went to the wrong bike rack and lost 20s there. It also took me ages to put my running shoes on.
What would you do differently?:

Get clearer points of reference.
Run
  • 21m
  • 5 kms
  • 04m 12s  min/km
Comments:

BRIK was a killer. Especially when the first 600m were up-hill. I had practiced the transition but it took me a while to get into a rythm. I had to wait until someone faster than me turned up and set my rythm then. It worked but far too late.
What would you do differently?:

Work harder on the transition and get into a rythm.
Post race
Warm down:

short run

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Endurance at speed

Event comments:

Very good organisation. Clear marking and transition security well organised. Overall good feeling about the event.
