line spacing in forum posts

A few times now I have posted in forums where I have placed blank lines between sections of text, but when I submit the post, the line spacing disappears. This formating problem makes the posts more difficult to read. The posts were submitted using Safari 4.0.4 on a Mac OS 10.4.11.For example, when writing this sentence of text, I hit RETURN twice after the "10.4.11." above so that there is a blank line before this sentence.
