Swim
Comments: I cannot swim in a straight line. I probably swam >1mile. My other observation is I need to do more open water swim practice. Without a wall to push off of every 25 yrds, the distance seemed to require more exertion. During the 2nd half of the swim, I starting sighting every 5-7 strokes. What would you do differently?: Stay on course better. Practice open water swims. REMEMBER TO REMOVE WEDDING RING Transition 1
Comments: I purposely took my time, apparently more than anyone else on the course this day. What would you do differently?: I want to practice speeding this up some. Bike
Comments: I was doing great for the 1st half of the ride and then I started to shut down - Once I turned onto Pepper Rd. My stomach became like a knot and it was difficult for me to put anything in my stomach. I ate 1/2 of a gel and drank 3/4 bottle of accelerade, but it was becoming increasingly difficult What would you do differently?: Acclimate to the high temps. I felt like I was doing everything very well in the 1st half of the ride - I passed a ton of people Transition 2
Comments: Again - I was trying to race through the transition. I was taking my time. I forgot to take my cycling shorts off and wound up running with them What would you do differently?: Remember to take cycling shorts off (I had my jammers on underneath) Run
Comments: Because my stomach was in knots, it was extremely difficult to run continuously. I spent alot of time walking. What would you do differently?: Get acclimated to heat - practice running in the heat Post race
Warm down: Ate some oranges and drank lots of water. I went into the lake to cool down. What limited your ability to perform faster: Heat and my stomach being in knots. Woke up ~5am and had a bagel and some cheese, water and went back to bed. Just prior to the race, kept drinking water.
swam a bit in the lake to get acclimated
