Swim
Comments: Longest I ever swam. Kept a nice comfortable pace. Got swum over several times and swam over several people. Murky water, 0 visibility. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 1
What would you do differently?: Skip the camelbak and just use water bottles w/Accelerade. Bike
Comments: Hills were extremely steep. I was not ready for this. Walked up Sugarloaf. What would you do differently?: More bike training, especially hills. Longer rides. Change gearing on bike for steeper hills. Transition 2
What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: Felt terrible after bike. Stomach cramps, tired and little motivation. Walked up the hills, jogged down for the first 5 miles. Ran a comfortable pace the last 8 miles. What would you do differently?: more bike training! The bike wore me out before the run even started. Post race
Warm down: Walking, gentle stretching. Pizza and plenty of liquids. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training. I started my training with very little base. About 2 more months of base building would have made a big difference. Last updated: 2004-01-20 3:53 PM
