Comments: Spent most of my energy on the first 200m wasn't ready for the contact. about 1/3 way in, i didn't think i could do it. never got into my stroke. spent too much time navigating, or trying to at least. everytime i got into my stroke i'd hit somebody. very annoying. never really got tired though. What would you do differently?: STAY TOWARDS THE BACK avoid the contact because it takes a lot out of you. get in some more open water swims to work on navigating. try harder to concentrate on form. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Coming out of the water i was really disoriented, and my legs wouldn't start me running. once i got to my bike i was very tired and needed a break. took me a while to get reoriented and ready to move. no excuses...just poor transition. coming out of the t1 there was a bit of a back up so i couldn't run with my bike or get up to speed quickly. What would you do differently?: i'd force myself to get moving. when i look back i just sat there for at least a minute. i really could've made up some time here. very poor transition. ![]() Bike
Comments: Bike course was extremly hilly. Found out quickly how difficult it is to fuel up when you are biking. need more practice at that. also my bike being so old really hurt me. What would you do differently?: practice on more hills, get a new bike ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Frustrated with how i was doing, i was motivated to get out of t2 quickly. racked the bike, grabbed some fuel and i was out. What would you do differently?: get bike shoes. think ahead more ![]() Run
Comments: slow on my first lap...didn't expect the off road aspect of it. did extremely well on second lap. What would you do differently?: not much...get better at running down hill. bring more fuel. maybe my own water bottle. stay more motivated. ![]() Post race
Warm down: walked a bit, got to the cool down area quickly..took my time packing up. stayed for the awards. What limited your ability to perform faster: poor swimming, old bike, not ready for hills, not enough motivation Event comments: good race. i'll probably go back next year. the awards were pretty lame, but the organizers worked hard to please everyone. had a lot of fun. Woke up 2 hours before the race. Took a shower, had some Gatorade, an apple and a bagel. On the way to the race I had a Powerbar and listened to some music. At the race I took my time getting registered and marked. Set up my transistion similar to those around me. More music.
I didn't really have much time for warming up. Took a short (very short) bike ride to be sure everything was working properly. Light stretching, no running. Got acclimated to the water.
