Swim
Comments: The swim was pretty average for me. I felt I was working hard enough but my form was very poor (even worse than normal). As I was swimming I could tell that my stroke was out of sorts and for whatever reason i kept plugging away and never did get into decent form. I pretty much thrased through the water the entire course i think. My time wasn't horrible for me but coulda been better. What would you do differently?: More focus on stroke form. Transition 1
Comments: Took a long time getting my feet clean & dry and into my socks and then lacing up my shoes too. Bike
Comments: A nice bike ride on slightly rolling hills with no serious climbs. Smooth highway but in some spots very narrow shoulders. Started out nicely and through the first half of the course passing a couple of people but on the way back a group passed me and left me behind. What would you do differently?: I seem to tire on the 2nd half of the bike so either i need more endurance or just pace myself better. Drink less. Transition 2
Comments: Good T2, ran with bike, racked it and threw helmet down and ran out of T2. What would you do differently?: Nuttin' Run
Comments: A good run for me, in fact it turns out this is a 5k PB for me by 2 seconds so I was happy about that. The run was difficult because I took in too much fluid on the bike and I had a little bit of feeling the liquids sloshing around in my stomach as I started the run. Because of this I did not drink anything durning the run although my mouth was very dry and I felt thirsty. I went out in 11:43 and then back in 11:28 so happy about the negative split and the effort I put into the run. I slightly picked up the pace the last 2k or so and was able to catch up to and pass a couple of people but I didn't have anything left for a sprint the last couple hundred yards so I just upped my pace a little and hoped nobody was creeping up on me. I saw my wife's car as I approached the finish and that gave me a litte boost then I saw my girls as I neared the finish line. Happy with the run - passed maybe half a dozen or so people and wasn't passed by anyone. Post race
Warm down: Collapse on grass then go in the lake. What limited your ability to perform faster: Swim & bike skills. Event comments: Good fun. Small races, there was an OLY at the same time and both races had about 25-30 competitors. Be back next year for the OLY. Last updated: 2005-08-14 12:00 AM
