Comments: Of course I forgot my Hitchhiker's guide advise and forgot my towel, so getting the sand off and shoes on was a problem. What would you do differently?: Remember a towel to get the sand off feet. Bike
Comments: There was rain, then there were geese on the road, and a train (I technically have a 3min credit for the train, but it doesn't show up on the results) Bike course aid stations were excellent. What would you do differently?: Very little. I attacked this course with all I could, and feel really good about my performance. If I was lighter or had monsterous leg muscles I might be able to take those hills faster. Nutrition was good, though I could have handled the on-bike accelerade mixing a bit better. Post race
Warm down: Stretch and walk. What limited your ability to perform faster: Swim stroke rate, body weight, awkward nutrition reloads Event comments: Overall the support and organization was phenomenal. The only detractors were weather and what appeard to be a lack of experience keeping the crowd's attention for this length of race. The late start was due to weather moving the swim bouys forcing the last minute course change. Some post race policies showed some inexperience with this length of a race. We had to wait for all the 1/2 IM people to finish before awards, and there was really nothing to keep people around. Last updated: 2005-08-15 12:00 AM

Woke up, Checked all my equipment, packed the car, ate, and drove an hour and a half.
Pumped the tires on site, got my body marking, racked the bike, arranged the stuff, ran through the transition in my head, put on my wetsuit, and headed for the beach.
There was a problem with the swim course, so they had us walk a mile down the beach.
