Swim
Comments: A very good swim for me. I had a young lady who put the same split as me (8:10) and we paced throughout the swim. Around the 300 yard mark however, it got very messy. We both caught up to slower swimmers even though they marked a swim time of 8:00. At this point I kept hitting other swimmers, causing me to lose my stroke. There were times I had to do breast stroke without going under to be able to keep focus. Turned out me and Jeanette (the other 8:10 pace had the exact same time, (7:43). What would you do differently?: Nothing much, I'll just have to slowly work my way around the slower swimmers or just back off. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: This part is where everything went downhill for me. As mentioned above the couse is in the shapoe of a "T" with a couple of side roads that were up and backs. When I started I came from the middle part of long "T" and went North. At this point, I saw lead bikers go straight, instead of turning right to go south. So I did the same thing. I turned right, went down to the end, turned around, went back to the other end of the top of the "T," and when I came back to where I was supposed to turn right, I went straight, because I was not told by the directional person to turn. So I did the across the top again and then turned right the second time. At this point I know something's not right, with all the race numbers of a large variance passing me and vise versa. I went down to the bottom of the course and turned around and was told if it's my first loop go straight. If it's my second loop, turn into the transistion. So, being it was my first time past him, I went straight. When I got to the top of the "T" I stopped and asked the directions because I know I had gone off course somewhere. He told me the correct direction and then I had no idea what to do. At this point I was so bugged and couldn't think much. I started again across the top of the "T" for a third time. I ended up biking 9.4 miles!! ugh :-( What would you do differently?: Memorize the course trust no one. Transition 2
Run
Comments: I was at a point of what should I do? Should I not care anymore because of the fiasco on the bike and just chill, or should I try to run hard and finish strong? I decided to just go out and jog, but after the first quarter mile or so, I noticed how I was passing a bunch of slow people, so I pushed slightly hareder. I kept that pace until the final 1/2 mile and thought, just go, you got nothing to lose. Apparently I ran that faster than I thought. 6th in my age group! I was impressed when I saw my time. I didn't think I did that well. Post race
Warm down: A whole lot of water and vitamin water. Also had a banana and a piece of bagel. I also stayed up and walked around as best as I could. What limited your ability to perform faster: Poor course management Event comments: This was supposedly the 8th year of the Super Sprint Triathlon. Well they certainly were not ready for 320 participants. The start time was to be 7:30. I'm not sure of the exact time, but it was closer to 8 than 7:30 when the start actually began. The race day was awesome. Warm weather, sunny skies, a slight breeze. If the couse management could be a little bit better, that would have made the day perfect. I'm not sure about next year, even though I could probably have a great race. We'll see when time comes. Last updated: 2005-08-22 12:00 AM

Ate a banana and 20 oz. of Gatorade. After getting my bike station set up, I went out and loosen my legs with a quarter mile run. I didn't want to tire out to early, and it payed off.
