Comments: Set off a bit faster than usual and was within target pace at the first km mark. Kept within target, though only just, up to 5km mark but then started to slow. Just outside pace by 6km, quite a lot slower by 7km, picked up by 8km and held on to 9km but last km was really hard, probably my slowest km. Extremely pleased to cross finish line and be able to stop running! Didn't quite make target time but still delighted to have new PB and score in team which won female veterans trophy. What would you do differently?: Start very slightly slower and follow usual practice of increasing pace over course of race. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Stretched and put on warm clothing. Chatted with club members. What limited your ability to perform faster: Having raced IM 3 weeks earlier, and having done no speed work in training. Poor nutrition the day before race. Event comments: Good flat course, lovely to have so many other people from club (club as well as county 10k championship race). Last updated: 2005-08-11 12:00 AM

Travelled to event. Remembered being very early last year, so set out a little later (nearly too late) this year.
Jogged last mile of walk from train to course start. Drank some Gatorade.
