Comments: On the line for the start. Out like a rabbit, then settled into a strong pace. Kept coming back to technique, technique. Arms high, head looking out and down, leaning forward into the run. Really helped. Legs were really strong - no aches or pains, but breathing labored. At max heart rate throughout. Slight right shoulder cramp 3/4 into it, but that left. Slight burning in stomach (the honey). Had OK kick left at finish. What would you do differently?: Probably eat a slightly smaller breakfast, or at least earlier. Everything else seemed to work great. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Sliced bananas, bagels and water at race end. Bagels immediately settled the stomach. What limited your ability to perform faster: Breathing Event comments: Definitely an annual. Great way to get started for the season. Last updated: 2004-03-12 12:00 AM

Had coffee, honey-nut-oat cereal with yogurt, 2 whole wheat toast with plum jam, small water, multivitiamin. Had a good stretch and left one hour early.
Cont'd to stretch and stay loose inside. Ran slowwwwwwly about 1/4 mile or so for warmup just before race, with a couple of 50-yard dashes to elevate heart rate, but too much wasted time at the start with anouncements.
