Run
Comments: I was very nervous and really thought I was going to vomit. As the race began I started to feel even worse during the first run segment. My mouth was very dry, I really though I was going to puke and I felt faint. What would you do differently?: I would drink more, try to stay calm, talk to others... push harder Transition 1
Comments: It was upsetting to get to the transition zone and see that my helmet was gone. Some one had knocked it off my bike, so I had to find it, then the straps were messed up so I felt like I was being choked for awhile on the ride. What would you do differently?: Clip helet on to handle bars instead of putting it on my seat. Be more aggressive, drink while in transition zone instaed of on the bike. Bike
Comments: This is were I calmed down. I pushed but probably could have pushed harder. Allergies were very bad and getting my water bottle was difficult, as well as putting it back. I felt I did my best on the hills and that is where I was able to pass others. The sun was hot and I was a little winded at first. Shifting was way off, something isn't right. My seat was too high from touch ups the night before and my whole pelvis became sore and numb. What would you do differently?: Buy a new bike?? And if not get the bugs worked out before race day, like a week before so I know my bike is right on. Practice getting drinks from my water bottle while in training. I just got the bottle holder last night so it was all new. Transition 2
Comments: Better than the first, just needed people to get out of the way. What would you do differently?: Be more aggresive so people get out of the way, run with bike, don't worry about things being neat.Leave gloves on. Run
Comments: It is tough to get the legs going again, but I pushed myself and ran the whole time. Wish I would have pushed harder at the end as I got passed. A quarter into the run I erased all feelings of wanting to walk, I felt strong and I knew I could finish. What would you do differently?: PUSH IT, Longer strides, take advantage of all downhill and up for that matter, I have always practiced on hills and I know I can do it. Maybe nasal spray, sinuses were killing and my nose was on fire at the end. Post race
Warm down: Walk and cold shower, light stretching, a 3rd allergy pill and 2 motrin. What limited your ability to perform faster: heat, weight, nerves and defintly my allergies Event comments: This was my first ever so I don't know how it compares. Last updated: 2004-04-12 9:36 AM

Had to get up very early (5:00 AM) to take Brian to work, stayed up and ran errands.
Just did light stretching and walked around.
