Run
Comments: Although I did not train specifically for this race, it was one of the fastest runs I had done so far. It makes me think I might be able to keep my 6 mile run at the end of my first international distance triathlon under an hour come May. What would you do differently?: Would not change a thing. Post race
Warm down: Jogged by reflecting pool and cooled down. What limited your ability to perform faster: I need to keep adding to my base and try to add more sprints with glides in to increase my stamina at higher speeds. Event comments: This was a good warm up race for the Conoco Phillips 10K 2 weeks later in the month. The race was well marked, on time, and had plenty of security. My only complaint was that there were only 3 drink stations on the whole course. It was not a problem for me because it was so cool and I brought my own liquids on my amphipod, but warmer conditions might have caused a lot more people to fade. Last updated: 2006-02-13 12:00 AM

Drove down early and parked. Had a granola bar before I left the house.
Warmed up for the first time ever since it was so cold (sun was up, but the wind was channeled downtown and no sunlight shone down upon us) - simply jogged around the city block at Minute Maid park and shot a gu before I started.
