Sunny
Total Time = 57m 43s
Overall Rank = 431/482
Age Group = M30-34
Age Group Rank = 38/39
Pre-race routine:

Drove down early and parked. Had a granola bar before I left the house.
Event warmup:

Warmed up for the first time ever since it was so cold (sun was up, but the wind was channeled downtown and no sunlight shone down upon us) - simply jogged around the city block at Minute Maid park and shot a gu before I started.

Comments:

Although I did not train specifically for this race, it was one of the fastest runs I had done so far. It makes me think I might be able to keep my 6 mile run at the end of my first international distance triathlon under an hour come May.
What would you do differently?:

Would not change a thing.
Post race
Warm down:

Jogged by reflecting pool and cooled down.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I need to keep adding to my base and try to add more sprints with glides in to increase my stamina at higher speeds.

Event comments:

This was a good warm up race for the Conoco Phillips 10K 2 weeks later in the month. The race was well marked, on time, and had plenty of security. My only complaint was that there were only 3 drink stations on the whole course. It was not a problem for me because it was so cool and I brought my own liquids on my amphipod, but warmer conditions might have caused a lot more people to fade.
