![]() Run
Comments: Was looking to run under 45mins. Start seemed good, breathing hard after a couple hundred meters but felt ok. HR was a little high (180) but flet ok. I think race adrenalin allows me to run at a HR a few beats higher than i plan for. It was a hard run, hilly but i am happy how it turned out. I started out pretty hard and kept the pace. Didn't have any 'rest' segments, was able to negative split and HR was pretty much constant the entire race. I followed a guy the last 7 or so km and wasn't able to close the gap on him. Pretty much the entire time i was about 100m back or so. Very happy with the performance, got thirsty but did not want to slow down and drink. I took one little bit of a drink and on the 2nd half of the race i dumped water on my head a few times to keep cool. I started out with a touque but ented it carrying it in my hands the last half of the race. As always, was nervous pre-race and wondering if my goals were realistic. I have been pretty consistent with my training. It hasn't been high volume, but very consistent except for some injury related downtime in January. With little racing or high intensity training, I wonder if I will be able to hold a fast race pace that I never really run in training except for short distances up to about 1km. Now I am supposed to run ~45' at a pace I have only run for a few minutes at a time? But i guess the training principles are sound - a good hard race and very happy with my time. ![]() Post race
