Pre-race routine:

woke up to stormy weather - bummer. checked radar - looks like front could go through fast - yes! Walk to starting area and stand under overpass to stay dry (drizzle). Everyone starts to line up, ok, focus on easy start don't panic.

Comments:

Started little fast first 5 miles, then got into tempo and did good until last 4 miles. Extreme knee pain - never had this pain before (even with 50-60 miles week training). Had to stop several times between mile 22-25, toughed out last mile, although slowwww. Have to do this again next year and meet the 3:45 time goal.
What would you do differently?:

Build up mileage more before starting the 12 week training program

Knee pain caused me to stop several times in last 4 miles - IT Band
