![]() Swim
Comments: Wow, the swim really sucked! the course was a tight 750m triangle. We had between 600-1000 in the race, divided into <40 and >=40 age waves. The gun went off and the beating began. I got the mess kicked out of me for the entire first loop. I knew it would take awhile for me to feel comfortable in the water due to a serious lack of training the past couple of months. I didn't think it would take 500m. By the second loop things had strung out a little more and got into a little better rhythm. Time would have been slightly faster but I saw a small Korean woman getting pounded, screaming, and generally looking like she was about to drown. So I swam back to her, and sidestroked her over to a buoy. What would you do differently?: hmm...actually do some swimming prior to the race. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: it was a 1/4 mile run into T1, overall transition was decent ![]() Bike
Comments: The bike was tough. They had closed off a section of the highway that runs along the river. Nice course. Unfortunately, we had swirling crosswinds that ended up feeling like we were riding into a headwind the whole way. I caught Amelia with about 3-4 miles to go and rode in with her. What would you do differently?: more training, need to take in more nutrition ![]() Transition 2
Comments: It wasn't clearly marked where we were supposed to exit the transition to enter the run course. Lost a few seconds here but no big deal. ![]() Run
Comments: Really tired by this point and my left knee was starting to tighten up/hurt. We just kinda jogged along at 10-11 minute pace. Amelia really wasn't feeling well, so she stayed with me the whole time. The course was really nice. The area around the lake is a park set against the Apsan mountains. Very pretty. What would you do differently?: train more. ![]() Post race
Warm down: stumble back to the transition area, pick up bike, stumble to car What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training Event comments: The race was well organized and the day was beautiful. It would have been a really nice event if I had trained properly for it. Last updated: 2006-02-19 12:00 AM
