Comments: Ran the race with Laura. Laura experience traffic during her drive from Whitby and I of course had to go to make a pit stop at the MacDonald to go to bathroom before the race. Needless to say we were late for the race. As we were were bolting to the start we watched the race organizers remove the start and I was a bit disappointed that we didn't get an official start time and activate our chip (spear nothing for the stragglers) No worries, as Laura zoomed off in front, I decided let's just run the race the best we can. So I got in the zone, pacing myself for 10 and 1's. 5KM in one a nasty fly (you know the ones that are small and kind of linger in a bunch around pools of water or damp areas..yeah those). Well one flew right in my eye as I was trying to rub it out of my eye I thought I better stop before I have some reaction and before you know it my eye is red and infected. So I left it in my eye and rubbed the dead bug out with Laura's help after the race. Saw someone from clinic with 500m left in the race and cheered her on as I ran with her for a few seconds. Sprinted the last 100m through the finish hearing my name I raised my hands up (I love hearing the announcer call my name). Then I hear Laura say "OK you can stop running" OH YEAH!! What would you do differently?: Arrive with lots of time before the race actually starts and with loads of time to go to the bathroom. Laura and I have decided that we will definetely do this race again but she'll come down much earlier so that we don't feel too rushed. ![]() Post race
Warm down: After packing the finish line and hearing my name called, my legs were sore, so Laura found me and we went to the side and did some stretches. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training more consistently by going out for regular runs. During the winter I was training with the Running Room clinic but then, the spring came and I sort of slacked off with the training. Still got some running in there but just wasn't enough to make a difference in my race performance from previous years. Being late also didn't help. Last updated: 2006-05-19 12:00 AM

Had my practical exam for my personal training certification. Only day I could do it before it expired and I would have to start from scratch. After the location for the course changed from Mississauga to Brampton without notice, I actually sat in the Brampton GoodLife all day long, doing the course and then racing home to get some nutrition, change and wait for Laura.
Started with speed walking down lakeshore and then breaking out into a full run to get to the start in time (that didn't work).
