Swim
Comments: Very poor swim. Buoy line for long leg was set up on the sand bar with breaking waves and was very shallow. Several people walked/ran parts of swim. Got tossed around in breakers. Got trapped between others and was unable to stay beyond breakers as much as planned. Current slowed between w/u and wave start and I miscalculated start and swam long. Pretty rotten swim for me. Never got into any rhythm. Gender rank 40/104. What would you do differently?: More practice ocean swimming and swimming in breakers. Should have more aggressively swum past breakers even though longer. Transition 1
Comments: Had trouble getting into shoes again. Had to take them off and put on three times. Also poor choice of rack placement and set up with stool. What would you do differently?: Will not use black shoes again. Will choose different position on rack to allow easier access to get bike out and sit on stool (or age regress and not need it anymore). Bike
Comments: Most times were very good on this fast smooth course. PR MPH for me. What would you do differently?: Nothing unless I get a bike with bar end shifters so I shift more with subtle changes in the terrain, which I skip now. Transition 2
Comments: Except for racking bike this T2 felt faster than is was. Not sure why it was so slow. What would you do differently?: Choose different rack position Run
Comments: Ran the entire course and felt reasonably good and thought it would be a little faster. I guess I am still a horrible runner. What would you do differently?: Gotta train harder, better, and maybe get coached. maybe take off a little tonnage too. Post race
Warm down: Walked around and drank, drank, drank. Overall gender rank 37/107. Qualified as Athena and would have placed first in that division. What limited your ability to perform faster: Poor planning and execution of the swim and poor choice of position on the rack. Event comments: Race started a little late resulting in very poor buoy placement for the swim. Swimming in waves is not an issue but it should be a swim not a water run. Otherwise it was a very well organized and fun race in a very nice venue and I will do it again. Last updated: 2012-06-24 12:00 AM

Up at 4:30, Grits, yogurt, caffeine. Got to venue for TA opening at 6 but it was already getting quite full. Thought I chose a good rack position but it was actually a poor choice.
Ran around the block twice. Swam about 5 minutes mainly to guage waves and current. Clif shot blocks.
