Run
Comments: Wasn't sure how hard to go for the mile. Ended up deciding to go hard... recover on the bike. Got HR to almost to max so might have gone too hard. What would you do differently?: nothing... it was a fun mile. Transition 1
Comments: Easy to pop shoes off. What would you do differently?: Put helmet on before pulling out bike. Bike
Comments: Good bike. Some light rain to start then tapered off. Garmin ran out of battery shortly after the start so just went off RPE. Tired to keep cadence fast. MPH was faster than last month's sprint. What would you do differently?: Tight calves coming off the bike so might have pushed the pedals too much. Transition 2
Comments: nothing remarkable Run
Comments: Started the run slow with tight calves. Splits I was able to get include: Mile 1-2: 17:02 Mile 3: 8:57 Mile 4: 8:11 Mile 5: 8:34 Mile 6: 7:43 Calves loosened up after the first mile but still had some unexplained upper calf tightness... kept me from reaching another gear. What would you do differently?: Fix tight calves. Post race
Warm down: Walked around and packed up. What limited your ability to perform faster: Heat limited as expected. Tight calves were unexpected. Event comments: Weather limited the race but made the most of it. Last updated: 2012-06-06 12:00 AM

Up at 4am to drive to race site. Peanut butter sandwich on the way up and power bar about 40 mins before start. Pulled out my garmin during set-up and saw it was on and showing low battery. Doh.. rookie mistake. Turned it off but it only lasted until about 6 miles into the bike. Swim was cancelled... turned into a Dual with 1 mile run to start.
Took the bike out for about 10 mins and short run to warm-up.
