Pre-race routine:

Wake and eat breakfast. Had sometime so I just layed on the couch.
Event warmup:

Some stretching and warm up swim.
Swim
  • 10m 47s
  • 462 yards
  • 02m 20s / 100 yards
Comments:

Started out way too hard. Had to roll on my back twice to catch my breath. Water was a bit chilly. I went off course on the return side of the loop.
What would you do differently?:

Start more easily and keep to my normal swim pace.
Change my breathing side so that I would stay on course better. I kept swimming towards the sun and as a result way left, on the return side of the course.
Transition 1
  • 02m 14s
Comments:

Took a long time in T1. Was out of focus after the run. I wasn't wearing a wet suit.
What would you do differently?:

Need to be more smooth. Think about the steps as I am running out of the water to my bike.
Bike
  • 1h 00m 4s
  • 17.2 miles
  • 17.18 mile/hr
Comments:

The course was nice overall. Has a few small hills, with one really nice and long down hill, which allows you to get some really good speed.
What would you do differently?:

Just need more training in this area. I am a slow biker.
Transition 2
  • 01m 1s
Comments:

I was pretty quick through here. I did stop to drink some gatorade.
What would you do differently?:

Drink enough fluids before entering the transition area. I was slow at racking my bike.
Run
  • 22m 55s
  • 5 kms
  • 04m 35s  min/km
Comments:

I pushed it pretty well here. I was 30 seconds faster than my last tri 5k. Just need to perform more bricks to get my legs up to speed faster.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, as this run went pretty well.
Post race
Warm down:

Some stretching and replenishment of the calories.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training, training, training. I will be focusing on swim and bike in the off season.

Event comments:

The race was nicely set up. The transition area was setup with more than enough bike racks to everyone was nicely spread out. Plenty of volunteers marking the course. Bike was in a low traffic area.
