Comments: Forgot to start my interval timer, so first run interval was about four minutes rather than three. No big deal. Followed 3:1 until the last mile. Pretty much ran in a pack until the turnaround, then it thinned out on the leg back. My Achilles didn't like running on the sand. Tried to stay on the packed sand near the edge of the water as much as possible. What would you do differently?: Do some running on the beach ahead of time to get more acclimated to it. Post race
Warm down: Walked around the finish line a cheered for later finishers. What limited your ability to perform faster: Ran about what I expected based on my fitness. Still working on losing weight. Last updated: 2013-04-01 12:00 AM

Up at 5:30AM. Coffee and whole wheat toast with peanut butter for breakfast. Headed off at 6:45AM. Found a parking spot, walked around check-in and expo, then headed down to start/finish at the water on the beach.
Did some easy jogging and pick-ups between the lifeguard stations. Got in line about five minutes before the start.
